SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 20-21 all-time against Springfield in a series that dates back to 1997.
• The Beavers suffered a pair of losses to the Pride last season and the teams have split their last eight meetings going back to 2018.
• Eight of the last 11 games between the squads have been decided by one or two goals.
• The winner of the regular season meeting between the Green and White and Springfield has earned the top seed in the conference tournament in six consecutive seasons going back to 2016.
LAST MEETING
• Graduate student Jade O'Connor finished with three goals and two assists and the Pride scored the first five goals of the second half on the way to defeating Babson, 8-6, in the NEWMAC Tournament final on May 7, 2022, in Springfield, Mass.
• O'Connor and junior Maddie Roy both had a goal and an assist during the pivotal run and fellow junior Haley Moody finished with 15 saves for Springfield, which held the Green and White scoreless for 25 minutes to start the second half.
• Senior Erin Jayne had two goals and classmate Claudia Dodge and Brooke Leveille '22 both finished with three caused turnovers for the Beavers, who led 4-3 at halftime.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (1-3, 0-0 NEWMAC) is coming off a dominating 20-12 victory over Rhodes on Monday in Florida.
• Jayne and graduate student Emily Curtis both produced four goals and three assists and sophomore Clare Connolly added three goals and two assists to go along with a season-high 13 draw controls for the Beavers, who raced out to a 12-3 second-quarter lead.
• Curtis (10-3-13) has scored three or more goals in three straight games, Jayne (4-8-12) is tied for fourth in the league in assists, and Dodge (9-0-9) has recorded six ground balls and five caused turnovers.
• Connolly is second in the NEWMAC with 27 draw controls, junior Kayleigh Hacker has scooped up seven ground balls and sophomore goalie Kathleen Murphy has posted a 13.66 goals against average to go along with a .394 save percentage in four starts this spring.
SCOUTING THE PRIDE
• Springfield (1-3, 0-0 NEWMAC) has dropped two straight games after suffering a 14-11 loss at Stevens last Friday.
• Sophomore Samantha Andresen scored three times and O'Connor, Lily Johnson and senior Arielle Johnson each scored twice for the Pride, which got as close as two with 5:10 to go in the fourth quarter.
• O'Connor (12-5-17) has converted 4-of-6 free-position chances, A. Johnson (8-5-13) has scored in all four games this spring and Andresen (8-1-9) is one of four players with at least eight draw controls on the team.
• Senior Gianna Scialdone leads the team with 17 draw controls, eight ground balls and five caused turnovers, while Moody has posted a 13.60 goals against average and a .424 save percentage in three starts on the year.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
• After scoring 21 goals over their first three games, which includes contests against a pair of top-10 foes in Middlebury and Wesleyan, the Beavers erupted for 20 goals in the victory over Rhodes.
• Jayne, Curtis, Dodge and Connolly combined to score 14 times in the win and were efficient in doing so by converting 66.7 percent of their 21 shots into goals.
SUCCESS IN THE NEWMAC
• Babson owns a .877 winning percentage (50-7) against conference opponents since 2016.
• The Beavers are 25-3 at home and 41-4 in the regular season during this stretch and have finished outside the top two in the league standings just once in 2021 when they played just three regular season games.
BEAVER BITES
• Jayne extended her points streak to 33 games against Rhodes and is now tied for seventh on the program's career assist chart with 58. She also ranks 20th all-time in Babson history with 139 points.
• Connolly's 13 draw controls in the win over Rhodes are the most in a single game by a Babson player going back to 2010.
• Juniors Eileen Manning and Zoë Michaud are tied with Dodge for the team lead with five caused turnovers apiece.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 11-1 since the start of last year when scoring at least four free-position goals.
• Babson has won 25 of its last 26 games when holding its opponents to 10 goals or fewer.
• The Green and White is 41-3 when leading at halftime since the start of the 2018 campaign.
