SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 12-1 all-time against Roger Williams in a series that dates back to 1990.
• The Beavers have won six straight meetings against the Hawks since 2015.
• The teams played three games decided by just a single goal since 2014 although the Green and White has outscored the Hawks 36-9 in three meetings going back to 2019.
LAST MEETING
• Lee Sipes '21 M'22 and junior Jacob Tauss both scored three times to help Babson defeat Roger Williams, 12-6, on February 19, 2022, in Bristol, R.I.
• Senior Matt Stucchi and junior Topher Bower each had two goals and junior Grey Sunderland won 14-of-18 face-offs for the Beavers, who led 6-1 at halftime and got four saves apiece from Mac Mowat '22 and Austin O'Brien '22.
• Sophomore Jack Kester and Ryan Phillips finished with two goal apiece for the Hawks, who got 16 saves from senior Duncan Gillis in the loss.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (0-0) returns 37 players from a team that finished 8-9 overall after advancing to the NEWMAC semifinals last season.
• The Beavers bring back six of their top eight scorers led by the trio of senior Chi Chi Price (35-8-43), Stucchi (21-19-40) and Bower (21-14-35), who combined for 11 of the team's 20 man-up goals in 2022.
• Sunderland won 55 percent of his face-offs and finished third in the conference with 108 ground balls, while junior Brendan Maher (38 GB, 23 CT)and senior Hayden Bean (24 GB, 16 CT) return to lead a defense that posted a 10.97 goals against average last spring.
• Senior Will Parducci, who played primarily in man-down situations, stopped 53.1 percent of the shots he faced over 14 games a season ago.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
• Roger Williams (0-0) returns 34 players from a team that finished 9-11 and advanced to the CCC semifinals last spring.
• Despite having to replace its top three scorers, the Hawks bring back junior Matt Halpin (25-18-43) and senior Noah Ravas (23-17-40), who combined for 48 goals and 83 points, as well as sophomore Jack Kerster who finished with 21 goals and eight assists as a rookie.
• Juniors Tyler Zanini (49 GB, 25 CT) and Brian Cumming (43 GB, 20 CT) return to lead the defense after earning all-league honors last spring, and senior Jordan Pivarnik tied for the team lead with 49 ground balls as the team's top face-off man in 2022.
• Sophomore Max Kimmel was solid between the pipes as a rookie going 7-6 with a 10.94 goals against average and a .556 save percentage in 18 games.
PRICE, KENNEY EARN PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA RECOGNITION
• Price was named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America honorable mention list and graduate student Ryan Kenney was an Inside Lacrosse All-America honorable mention back in January.
• Price has 57 goals and 10 assists for 67 points in 28 career games for the Beavers, while Kenney arrives in Babson Park following an outstanding four-year career at Lynchburg that saw him produce 66 goals in 2022 116 goals and 139 points over 47 career games for the Hornets.
MIDDLE MEN
• Juniors Ford Carney and Sammy Kalishman have emerged as two of the Beavers' top short-stick midfielders and combined to scoop up 76 ground balls while scoring two goals apiece last spring.
• Senior long-stick midfielder Kyle Sanborn also enjoyed a breakout season in 2022 as he picked up 33 ground balls and ranked fourth on the team with 14 caused turnovers.
SCORING PUNCH
• Although the Green and White must replace two of its top five point producers from last year's team, fifth-year head coach Rocky Batty returns a number of scoring options as eight different players scored at least 10 goals last spring.
• Juniors Jacob Tauss (15-3-18) and Connor Karsh (14-3-17) both achieved season highs in scoring, while sophomore Colt Bordanaro recorded 14 goals and added two assists for 16 points in 13 games as a rookie.
NEW FACES YOUNG AND OLD
• Batty and his staff have added 12 first-years and four transfers to the 2023 roster, three of which arrive at Babson for a graduate year.
• In addition to Kenney, Michael La Forte earned a pair of All-Presidents' Conference honors and totaled 71 goals and 115 assists for 186 points in 53 career games at Grove City, while Will Spangenberg had a career-best 34 points last spring and produced 52 goals and 40 assists for 92 points in 41 appearances over four season at Holy Cross.
• The Beavers' 12 first-year players hail from nine different states and the Canadian province of Ontario.
STREAKING INTO THE SPRING
• Stucchi was the lone Babson player to register a point in all 17 games last spring, while Price and sophomore Emmett Martin both had at least one goal in each of the Beavers' final three games of the 2022 campaign.
• La Forte also produced at least one point in each of his final games at Grove City.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 15-4 going back to the start of the 2020 campaign when scoring at least 10 goals.
• Babson is 14-1 over the last three seasons when leading at halftime.
• The Beavers went 7-2 last year when recording eight or more caused turnovers.
