WORCESTER, Mass. —The Babson College women's swimming and diving team won nine of the 13 events on the way to a 142-94 victory over Clark University Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at the Kneller Athletic Center Pool.
With the victory, the Beavers improve their dual meet record to 5-2 on the season while Clark drops to 0-2 in dual meets this season.
Leading the way for the Beavers was senior
April Kupsky (Bear Creek, Pa.), who won a pair of individual events and swam on a winning relay team. She touched the wall first in the 400 IM in 4:52.65 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.02, finished third in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.90, and swam the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay team.
Babson had strong performances in the freestyle events, both sprints and distance. First-year
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) and junior
Audrey Daniels (Santa Monica, Calif.) finished 1-2 in the 50 free in 25.58 and 25.93 seconds, respectively, and Daniels won the 100 free in 57.32. Sophomore
Emma Chenski (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was the winner of the 500 free in 5:50.26, and sophomore
Jenny Chung (Cumming, Ga.) and senior
Sophia Swain (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) finished 1-2 in the 1000 in 11:44.16 and 12:09.06, respectively. First-year
Nicolette Newsome (Bridgewater, N.J.) was also runner-up in the 200 free in 2:08.13.
Junior
Emily Tran (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Racicot led the Beavers in the 100 back, Tran finishing first in a time of 1:02.71 and Racicot in second in 1:06.15. Senior
Vera Belfonti (Orange, Conn.) finished runner-up in the 100 fly in 1:02.65, and junior
Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) was second in both the 100 breast (1:18.25) and 400 IM (5:11.19).
Babson's winning contingents in the relay events included junior
Maggie Cassily (Rye, N.H.), Kupsky, Belfonti and sophomore
Catherine Curry (Melrose, Mass.) in the 200 medley relay, and Swain, Chung, junior
Sophia Silver (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Curry in the 200 free relay.
The Beavers return to the pool with a home meet against Stonehill next Saturday, November 11, inside Morse Pool.
