Women’s Swimming & Diving Earns Victory over Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. —The Babson College women's swimming and diving team won 10 of the 14 events on the way to capturing a 150-112 victory over Roger Williams University Saturday afternoon in a dual meet inside the RWU Aquatic Center.

With the win, the Beavers are now 2-0 in dual meets this season while Roger Williams competed in its first dual meet of the season and started 0-1.

Senior April Kupsky (Bear Creek, Pa.) led the Beavers with three individual victories while juniors Audrey Daniels (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Emily Tran (Longmeadow, Mass.) and first-year Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) all captured one individual event and swam on both winning relay teams. Senior Vera Belfonti (Orange, Conn.) and junior Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) were also individual winners for the Beavers.

Kupsky took first place in the 200 butterfly (2:18.81), 200 breaststroke (2:34.55) and 200 I.M. (2:18.51) for the Green and White. Daniels touched the wall first in the 100 free (57.02) and finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.79), Tran was first in the 100 back (1:02.52) and third in the 50 free (26.67), and Racicot brought home first in the 50 free (26.14).

Garvey won the 1,000 free (11:47.22) and took second in the 500 free (5:46.05) and Belfonti finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:03.23).
The contingent of Tran, Daniels, Belfonti, and Racicot won the 200 medley relay in 1:53.63 and the team of Daniels, Racicot, sophomore Sophia Sznewajs (Edina, Minn.), and Tran won the 400 free relay in 3:48.93.
 
Other strong performances were turned in by junior Maggie Cassily (Rye, N.H.), who finished second in both the 100 back (1:03.18) and 200 back (2:21.71); Sznewajs, who placed second in the 200 free (2:03.30); and first-year Nicolette Newsome (Bridgewater, N.J.), who was runner-up in the 1,000 free (11:57.16) and third in the 200 back (2:23.75). Sophomore Emma Chenski (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was second in the 1000 free (12:08.96) and senior Sophia Swain (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) was third in the 100 fly.
 
The Beavers return to action on Friday, November 3 at 5 p.m. with a meet at WPI along with Brandeis and Coast Guard.
