BABSON PARK, Mass. —The Babson College women's swimming and diving team took first place in all 15 events on the way to defeating Regis College, 238-39, in the first meet of the season Saturday afternoon inside Morse Pool.
With the win, the Beavers start the dual meet season at 1-0 while Regis, which began its season a week ago, drops to 1-2.
Senior
April Kupsky (Bear Creek, Pa.) and junior
Audrey Daniels (Santa Monica, Calif.) led the Beavers with victories in three individual events, while senior
Sophia Swain (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and junior
Maggie Cassily (Rye, N.H.) captured two events apiece. Juniors
Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) and
Elina Sung (Dongguan, China) and first-year
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) all won one event apiece and the Beavers touched the wall first in both relay races.
Kupsky took first place in the 50 breaststroke (34.27), 100 breaststroke (1:11.90), and 100 butterfly (1:04.25) while Daniels brought home first place in the 50 fly (28.00), 100 free (57.38) and 200 IM (2:26.13). Swain was the winner of the 200 free (2:08.95) and 500 free (5:52.20) and finished second in the 50 fly (29.54) while Cassily won the 50 backstroke (29.45) and 100 backstroke (1:03.60).
Garvey was the winner of the 1,000 free in 11:45.82, Racicot was first in the 50 free (25.75) and second in the 50 back (30.93) and Sung finished first in the 1-meter diving (133.85).
Other solid performances were turned in by sophomore
Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.), who was second in the 1,000 free (12:04.95) and 100 breast (1:18.60), and first-year
Nicolette Newsome (Bridgewater, N.J.), who was runner-up in the 100 free (59.56), 200 free (2:09.63), and 500 free (5:52.82).
Sophomore
Jenny Chung (Cumming, Ga.) also placed second in the 100 back (1:08.03) and third in 500 free (5:56.82), junior
Sophia Silver (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was second in the 50 free (27.55) and third in the 100 free (1:00.73), and sophomore
Emma Chenski (xxx) was second in the 100 fly (1:08.69) and third in the 1,000 free (12:31.49).
The Beavers will be back in the pool with a meet next Saturday at Roger Williams at 12 p.m.
