Swimming & Diving Opens 2023-24 Campaign Against Regis on Saturday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    Coming off two of the top finishes in the NEWMAC era at last year's conference meet, the Babson men's and women's swimming & diving teams will open the 2023-24 season with a dual meet against Regis on Saturday at Morse Pool. 

SERIES HISTORY
•    The Babson men have been victorious in all six meets against Regis going back to 2008. 
•    The Babson women are 4-2 in six meets versus the Pride since 2008, which includes four straight victories (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). 

LAST MEETING
•    The Babson women defeated Regis, 201-68, and the Beavers bested the Pride, 236-33, in the men's half of the meet on November 12, 2022, as part of a double-dual meet with Norwich in Northfield, Vt. 
•    Senior April Kupsky (100 breast, 100 IM), sophomore Sophia Sznewajs (50 free, 200 free) and Molly Cox '23 (50 back, 100 back) all recorded a pair of victories for the Babson women, who finished first in eight events. 
•    Senior Joshua Kim won the 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke and 100 IM in addition to anchoring a victory in the 400 free relay, while classmate Nathan Ford (50 free) and sophomores Zackary Cheung (100 back) and Spencer Ernst (1000 free) all recorded one victory apiece. 

SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
•    The Beavers bring back 18 veterans from a team that recorded their highest finish (3rd) and most points (725) at least winter's NEWMAC Championships. 
•    The Green and White set five school records at the league meet following a successful regular season that saw it go 9-4 in dual-meet competition. 
•    Senior Blake Albanese (100 breast, 200 breast) and junior Pat Anutarasoti (50 breast) set new individual marks last year and also were part of school records in the 200 free, 400 free and 400 medley relays along with Ford and junior Aidan Downey-Lamprey. 
•    Anutarasoti and Downey-Lamprey also teamed with Kim and senior Josh Sellers to achieve a new program record in the 200 medley relay a season ago. 

SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
•    The Beavers return 18 veterans from a team that finished seventh with the second highest point total in school history at the NEWMAC Championships last February. 
•    The Babson women set four school records at the conference meet and posted a 6-8 record in dual meets last year. 
•    Kupsky enters the season as the school-record holder in the 500 free, 1000 free, 400 IM and 200 butterfly and also is part of a program mark in the 400 medley relay. 
•    Junior Audrey Daniels and Sznewajs helped the Green and White set new marks in the 200 free, 400 free and 200 medley relays in 2022-23, while senior Vera Belfonti is a part of program records in both the 200 medley and 400 medley relays. 

SCOUTING REGIS
•    The Regis men opened the season by defeating Saint Joseph (Conn.), 122-68, and the University of New England, 117-27, last Saturday. 
•    Liam Austin set a school record with a six-dive score of 175.00 on the one-meter board, while Aryaman Nagaraj (50 back, 50 free, 500 free), Cody Werner (50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 100 free) and Ryan Kim (50 breast, 100 breast) all won multiple events for the Pride. 
•    The Regis women split last weekend's meet with a 164-81 win over Saint Joseph (Conn.) and a 156-102 loss to UNE. 
•    Olivia Luhnau won the 50 breast and 100 breast, while Megan Miller took first in the 50 butterfly and was the runner-up in both the 50 back and 100 back for the Pride. 

BUSY START TO THE SEASON
•    Beginning with Saturday's meet, the Beavers will compete on three of the next four weekends.
•    Babson travels to Roger Williams on October 21 and will head to Worcester for meets at WPI on November 3 and Clark on November 4. 
•    The Babson women also return home to host Stonehill on November 11.
