Men's Lacrosse Suffers 16-7 Loss at No. 18/15 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Sophomore Pearse Glavin (Newtown Square, Pa.) led all players with three goals and No. 18 USILA/15 Inside Lacrosse Williams College used a nine-goal run that spanned parts of three quarters to defeat visiting Babson College, 16-7, in non-conference men's lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at Farley-Lamb Field.

With the loss, Babson slips to 5-5 on the year, while Williams improves to 6-4 with its fifth victory over the last seven games.

Connor Karsh (Glenview, Ill.) recorded a goal and an assist and was one of seven different players to score for the Beavers. Grey Sunderland (Bellevue, Wash.) also had a goal and won 11-of-23 face-offs, junior Kyle Sanborn (Brookfield, Conn.) led all players with six ground balls and senior Mac Mowat (Bellevue, Wash.) made seven of the team's 11 saves between the pipes.

Senior Jake Haase (Wayland, Mass.) recorded two goals and two assists and first-year Harrison Cross (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Ephs. Sophomore James Hemmer (Kenilworth, Ill.) contributed four ground balls and four caused turnovers, sophomore Noah Dewbrey (Darien, Conn.) won 12-of-23 face-offs, and senior Will Bock (Scarsdale, N.Y.) finished with eight saves in the win.

Haase scored twice and set up another tally by Glavin to give Williams a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest. First-year Emmett Martin (Milton, Mass.) got the Green and White on the board at the 6:24 mark and sophomore Topher Bower (Chicago, Ill.) cut the deficit to 4-2 just over a minute into the second period. Karsh followed up a goal by Ephs' sophomore Otto Nicholson (Setauket, N.Y.) to make it 5-3 with 10:13 to go in the second before the hosts erupted for nine straight goals.

Glavin, sophomore Zachary Romrell (Danville, Calif.) and Cross tallied to push the margin to 8-3 at halftime and Williams outscored Babson 4-0 in the third to push its advantage to 12-3 on Glavin's third goal of the game. The Ephs took their biggest lead of the contest at 14-3 thanks to goals just 14 seconds apart early in the fourth before the Beavers responded with a three-goal run.

Sunderland scored at the 13:10 mark, junior Matt Stucchi (Rexford, N.Y.) put away a feed from first-year Riley Shaw (Duluth, Ga.) and graduate student Lee Sipes (Windham, N.H.) cut the deficit to 14-6 with 8:50 left to play. Junior Dan Neill (Black Earth, Wis.) scored with 51 seconds remaining for the final margin.

Babson returns to action on Sunday when it hosts No. 16/19 Middlebury at 1 p.m., while Williams takes on Hamilton on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

• Saturday's matchup was the first all-time between Babson and Williams.
• Stucchi now has at least one point in each of the Beavers' 10 games this spring.
• Babson is 1-2 on the year against schools from the NESCAC.
