SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 0-12 all-time against Union in a series that dates back to 2009.
• The Beavers have been held to eight goals or fewer in five of the six losses in Schenectady, but scored a dozen in a 13-12 overtime Dutchmen victory in 2017.

LAST MEETING
• Kerry Lyne '20 scored five times and 11th-ranked Union used a six-goal run that spanned halftime on the way to defeating Babson, 15-7, on February 29, 2020 at MacDowell Field.
Mason O'Hanlon '21 scored twice and Owen Allen '20, Matthew MacCune '20 and graduate student Lee Sipes all finished with a goal and an assist for the Beavers. Jack Tague '21 and senior Drew Thomas combined to pick up seven ground balls in addition to recording three caused turnovers apiece, while goalie Christopher Aranalde '20 stopped 11 shots in the loss.
• Hayden Frey had three goals, Michael Sands scored twice and senior Brian Davis contributed a goal and three assists for the Dutchmen. Patrick Regan won 15-of-25 face-offs and led all players with seven ground balls, while Graham Goldheim stopped seven shots in 57 minutes of action.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (2-0) opened the season with back-to-back wins over Roger Williams (12-6) and Bates (12-7).
• Junior Matt Stucchi scored a game-high four goals and Babson survived a second-half comeback to pull out the victory over Bates Wednesday in the home opener at MacDowell Field.
• The Beavers also got two goals and an assist from junior Chi Chi Price and two goals from Sipes. Sophomore Topher Bower contributed a goal and two assists and classmate Alex Fairman added a goal and one assist.
• Sipes and sophomore Jacob Tauss both scored three times and classmate Grey Sunderland won 14-of-18 face-offs and led all players with eight ground balls in the win over Roger Williams.

SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN
• Union (0-0) is ranked 13th in the current USILA Division III poll and 12th in the Inside Lacrosse Division III rankings.
• The Dutchmen are making their season debut after finishing with a 5-3 record in a covid-shortened 2021 season that ended with an 11-9 loss to top-ranked and eventual national champion RIT in the Liberty League tournament.
• Senior defenseman Ryan Puglisi was named to the USILA Division III Preseason All-America First Team. Three Dutchmen were recognized as Preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse; Puglisi was named to the third team, while senior midfielder Kieran McGovern and senior faceoff specialist Sam Byrne were tabbed as honorable mentions.
• The Dutchmen will face a very challenging slate in 2022, one that includes five teams in the top 11 of the Inside Lacrosse preseason rankings.

BEAVER BITES
• Six different players recorded multiple points in the victory at Roger Williams, and five different players had multiple points in the home win over Bates.
• The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year in 2021 and NEILA All-New England Second Team selection, Sunderland has won 28-of-41 face-offs (68.3%) to start this spring, ranking 28th in Division III in the early going.
• An All-NEWMAC First Team and IMLCA All-New England pick in 2021, senior goaltender Mac Mowat made four first-half saves against RWU and 13 stops in the win over Bates. He is 13th in Division III in goals against average (5.33) and 21st in save percentage (68.0) after two games.

REGIONAL RECOGNITION
• In addition to coming in fourth in the NEILA preseason all-region poll behind Tufts, Williams and Wesleyan, three members of the program were named to the Division III All-New England preseason team.
• Sunderland was selected as a second-team face-off specialist, Price was picked as a second-team midfielder, and senior Drew Thomas who had four ground balls and two caused turnovers at RWU, was a third-team selection on defense.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers have won 17 consecutive games when allowing eight goals or fewer going back to the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
• Babson has won its last six contests and is 10-3 under Batty when recording 36 ground balls or more.
• The Green and White has been victorious in each of its last eight games when winning at least 50 percent of the face-offs.

UP NEXT
• Babson will be back in action on Saturday, March 12, with a non-conference game at Endicott at 3 p.m.
