WATERFORD, Conn.—The Babson College women's cross country team had two season-best times from its four runners in the Connecticut College Invitational white race Saturday afternoon in Harkness Park.
First-year Chloe Clifford (Marshfield, Mass.) was the first Beaver across the finish line, taking 24th place among the 113 runners in a season-best time of 24:45 for the 6k race. She was followed by classmate Alexandra Kirkpatrick (Middleborough, Mass.), who placed 39th with a time of 25:24.
First-year Ali Thomas (Vero Beach, Fla.) ran her season-best time with a 25:39 to take 47th place, and senior Nicole Johns (Peabody, Mass.) finished in the top half of the field, placing 51st in 25:56.
With just four runners, Babson did not factor into the team scoring but enjoyed one of their top performances of the season as a group. Westfield State (74), Springfield (88) and Eastern Connecticut (128) were the top three among the 14 programs in the team scoring.
The Beavers turn their attention to the post-season as the team will compete in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on October 30 at Highland Park, Mark Coogan Course in Attleboro, Mass.
