SERIES HISTORY

• The Beavers and Jumbos played in four consecutive seasons between 2010-13, which are the only meetings between the programs over the last two decades.

LAST MEETING
• Chris Schoenhut, Cole Bailey and Ben Saperstein each scored three times and then-fourth-ranked Tufts tallied the first six goals of the second half to pull away for a 16-5 victory over Babson on April 2, 2013, in Medford, Mass.
• Phil Russo won 13-of-23 faceoffs and scooped up eight ground balls to go along with a goal and an assist to lead the Beavers.
• Alex Salazar made 18 saves and John Heard had four caused turnovers to lead the Jumbos defense.

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
• No. 1/1 Tufts (6-0) claimed its third consecutive NESCAC Tournament championship with an 18-11 win over No. 10/17 Williams on Saturday.
• Senior Bryce Adam finished with seven goals and two assists and classmate Max Wildbaum added three goals for the Jumbos, who erupted for 14 goals over the final 25 minutes of the contest.
• Junior Mac Bredahl (15-32-47) ranks second in Division III averaging 7.83 points per game, Adam (24-14-38) has at least three goals in five outings this spring, and Waldbaum (22-10-32) has produced six consecutive multi-goal games.
• Senior Kyle Helfrich and junior Adam Hesse have combined to win 50.2 percent of their faceoffs, sophomore Kyle Adelmann leads the defense with 11 caused turnovers, and senior Joe Theuer has posted a 10.53 goals against average and a .553 save percentage in six starts.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 20 Babson (5-0) captured the first conference tournament championship in program history with a 15-7 win at Coast Guard last Saturday.
• Senior John Calicchio and junior Ryan Donovan both had three goals and first-year Grey Sunderland won 18-of-24 faceoffs for the Beavers, who used a pair of four-goal runs to build an 8-3 lead at the half.
• Donovan (10-8-18) has at least two points in every game this spring, junior Peter Chisholm (11-3-14) leads the team in goals, and sophomore Chi Chi Price (10-1-11) and graduate student Sean Smith (7-4-11) combined for nine goals in the Beavers' two conference tournament wins.
• Sunderland has won 65.2 percent of his faceoffs, senior John Antaya leads the defense with eight caused turnovers and senior goalkeeper Mac Mowat ranks fifth in Division III in goals against average (5.87) and 17th in save percentage (.614).

BABSON IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
• The Beavers earned their second NCAA berth and will make their first Division III Tournament appearance on Saturday.
• Babson qualified for the Division II NCAA Tournament in 1979 and suffered a first round loss to UMBC.

TUFTS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
• The Jumbos are making their 12th consecutive NCAA appearance and 13th in program history.
• Tufts won three national championships (2010, 2014, 2015) and made five national championship game appearances in a seven-year stretch from 2010-2016, and advanced to the national quarterfinals in both 2018 and 2019.

FIGHTING OFFENSE WITH…OFFENSE
• The Beavers, who rank fourth in Division III in scoring defense while holding each of their five opponents below eight goals, will face their toughest challenge of the season against the fast-paced Jumbos on Saturday.
• Along with its defensive prowess, Babson also ranks among the top 30 nationally in faceoff winning percentage (16th), ground balls per game (26th) and scoring offense (27th) which has helped it average 16.8 goals this spring.
• Tufts ranks first in Division III in scoring offense (24.0 goals) and set a school record with 31 goals against Bates on April 24.
• The Jumbos have put at least 33 shots on goal in every game, are averaging 69.2 shots per outing, and rank 10th nationally in shooting percentage (35.9).

SIX BEAVERS COLLECT NEWMAC POSTSEASON HONORS
• Antaya became Babson's first NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year and Sunderland earned conference rookie of the year honors, highlighting the program's conference accolades.
• Sunderland is the Beavers' first NEWMAC Rookie of the Year selection since Niall Dillon '19 won the award in 2016.
• Antay and senior Mason O'Hanlon both earned the second All-NEWMAC honors of their respective careers and were joined on the all-league first team by Mowat, senior Will Messner and junior Drew Thomas.

ENTERING THE RANKINGS
• The Beavers jumped into both the national and regional rankings on Monday thanks to Saturday's victory at Coast Guard.
• Babson is ranked 20th in the latest Nike/US Lacrosse national poll but is just 11th in the NCAA Region I rankings despite being one of only three unbeaten teams in New England along with Tufts (1st) and UMass Boston (7th).
• The Green and White played the fewest games this spring among the 31 programs in the Division III NCAA Tournament.

SPREADING OUT THE SCORING
• Calicchio became the sixth different Babson player to record a three-goal game this season joining Donovan, Price, O'Hanlon, Chisholm and Smith.
• The Beavers also feature 11 players that produced at least one multi-goal performance on the year.

SPIRIT OF '79
• The last time Babson appeared in the NCAA Tournament a gallon of gas cost $0.86 and a stamp went for $0.15. The number one song this week 42 years ago was "Reunited" by Peaches & Herb and the number one movie at the box office was "Manhattan" starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton.

NUMBER TO KNOW
• The Beavers have outscored their opponents 64-17 over the first three quarters this season.

LOOKING AHEAD
• The winner of Saturday's first round clash will face either No. 8/8 St. John Fisher or SUNY Maritime on Sunday at 1 p.m.
