Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.—Senior Georgia Salvatore (Westwood, Mass.) and sophomore Claudia Dodge (Pelham, N.Y.) scored four goals apiece as third-seeded Babson College defeated second-seeded Coast Guard, 14-6, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament semifinal on Saturday night at Cadet Memorial Field.
With the win, Babson (3-1) advances to its fifth consecutive conference championship game, while Coast Guard sees its year come to a close at 3-1.
Salvatore added three assists to finish with a season-high seven points, and graduate student Valerie Quinlan (Norwood, Mass.) contributed a goal and an assist to go along with a game-high four draw controls for the Beavers. First-year Kayleigh Hacker (Natick, Mass.) caused three turnovers and senior Cricket Fligor (Weston, Mass.) finished with five saves in the win.
First-year Addy Bass (Redondo Beach, Calif.) scored three times for the Bears, who got 11 saves from senior Mary Budri (Falmouth, Maine). Classmate Haley McCue (Arnold, Md.) recorded a goal and an assist and first-year Mia Becker (Hudson, Ohio) tied for game-high honors with three caused turnovers in the loss.
With the game deadlocked at 1-1 past the midway point of the opening half, the Green and White scored six of the next seven goals to build a 7-2 advantage at the break. Sophomore Anna Katherine Sypniewski (Vero Beach, Fla.) made it 2-1 at the 12:32 mark and Salvatore followed free-position tallies by Dodge and first-year Nicole Darveau (Sudbury, Mass.) with her second goal of the night to give Babson a 5-1 lead with 6:05 to go in the stanza.
Bass stopped the run with her first goal of the game just over a minute later, but Salvatore scored for the third time and then set up Dodge's goal with eight seconds left in the period to push the margin to five. Coast Guard got as close as three twice in the second half, the final time coming on sophomore Brenda Anderson's (Naperville, Ill.) tally with 25:29 remaining, but the Beavers responded with five straight goals to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore Courtney Kaskey (Winnetka, Ill.) started the run, which included a goal and an assist by Salvatore, and another free-position strike from Dodge to make it 13-5 with 3:55 to play.
Babson finished with a 13-8 advantage in draw controls and a 26-22 edge in ground balls while outshooting Coast Guard 30-16.
The Beavers will travel to top-seeded Springfield for the NEWMAC Tournament final next Saturday. The time of the game will be announced on Monday.

• Babson is 7-0 all-time against Coast Guard, which includes a pair of conference playoff victories.
• The Beavers have won their last 13 NEWMAC Tournament semifinal games and will appear in the conference final for the 14th time in the last 15 tournaments going back to 2006.
• Babson has won 20 consecutive NEWMAC Tournament games when scoring at least 12 goals.
• Salvatore is now eighth in program history with 56 assists, and her 162 points move her past Libby Bryant '05 for 16th on the school's all-time list.
