SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 32-8-1 all-time against Southern Maine in a series that dates back to 1995.
• The Beavers have won their last 18 games against the Huskies since suffering a 2-1 ECAC East Tournament quarterfinal loss back in February 2012.
• The Green and White swept the regular season series against Southern Maine, winning 5-2 on the road back in November and posting a 5-1 victory on home ice in late January.
• Babson and Southern Maine have met just three times previously in the conference playoffs with the Beavers winning a pair of the matchups, most recently a 6-0 victory in the 2014 ECAC East quarterfinals.
LAST MEETING
• Senior Ryan McDougall scored twice and sophomore Matt Wiesner added a goal and two assists to help the Beavers defeat Southern Maine, 5-1, on January 25 in Babson Park.
• Sophomore Mike Egan and first-year Andrew Holland both scored once, junior Patrick Flynn recorded two assists and sophomore Aidan Murphy stopped 23 shots for Babson.
• Sophomore Tyler Gardiner had a goal, while junior Anthony D'Aloisio and senior Paul Léger combined to make 33 saves for the Huskies.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Seventh-seeded Southern Maine (7-15-3) dropped three straight games to end the regular season and is coming off a 3-2 OT setback at New England College last Saturday.
• Sophomores Bobby Kinsey and Michael Green scored in the second period for the Huskies, who got 42 saves from Léger.
• Sophomore Adam Withers (6-16-22) enters the playoffs riding a six-game points streak, junior Maverick Lynes (8-7-15) leads the team in goals, and Green (7-6-13) has produced five goals over the last five games.
• D'Aloisio is 5-8-2 with a 2.70 goals against average and a .912 save percentage in 15 starts, while Léger (1-5-0) has posted a 4.14 goals against average and a .885 save percentage in nine appearances.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Eight-ranked and second-seeded Babson (18-5-2) suffered a 4-1 loss to No. 5 Hobart in its regular season finale last Saturday.
• Sophomore Ryan Black tied the game 50 seconds into the second period and Murphy made 24 saves for the Beavers, who saw the Statesmen tack on two empty net tallies over the final 64 seconds after taking the lead at the 16:30 mark of the third period.
• The top line of Black (11-20-31), who ranks third in the league in scoring, Egan (13-11-24) and junior Nick Rosa (12-10-22) has each scored four times on the power play, while Wiesner (11-16-27) was one of three Babson players to average better than a point per game in NEHC play.
• Junior Brad Arvanitis (8-2-1) and Murphy (10-2-1) have combined to post a 1.53 goals against average and a .951 save percentage in 24 starts this winter.
BABSON IN THE POSTSEASON
• The Beavers, who will host a conference quarterfinal for the ninth year in a row, have advanced to the semifinal round in seven consecutive seasons going back to 2013.
• Since 2001, Babson has failed to advance out of the quarterfinals just three times (2002, 2008, 2012).
• After reaching the conference title game eight times in 10 seasons from 2007-16, the Beavers have seen their season come to a close in the semifinals each of the last three years.
• Babson has captured conference championships - 1984, 1992, 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2014.
SOUTHERN MAINE IN THE POSTSEASON
• The Huskies have dropped their last seven conference tournament quarterfinal matchups while being shutout in every contest.
• Southern Maine's last postseason victory came in 2012 when it defeated the Beavers inside the Babson Skating Center, 2-1.
DYNAMIC DUO
• Arvanitis, who has gone 8-0-1 with a 0.76 goals against average, a .975 save percentage and four shutouts over his last nine starts continues to rank among the nation's leaders in multiple categories.
• He ranks second in Division III in both goals against average (1.17) and save percentage (.960), and enters the postseason tied for fifth with four shutouts.
• Not to be outdone, Murphy is tied for third in Division III in save percentage (.942) and ranks sixth in the country with a 1.64 goals against average.
SIX COLLECT CONFERENCE HONORS
• Black, Egan, Rosa and Arvanitis were all named to the All-NEHC second team on Thursday, while McDougall earned third-team all-league accolades for the second consecutive season.
• In addition to its five all-conference honors, first-year Andrew Holland (9-9-18) was named to the NEHC All-Rookie squad. He ranks second among first-year players in scoring.
DISTINGUISHED GROUP
• With his third-period assist in Monday's win over Suffolk, Black became just the third Babson player since 2009-10 to reach the 30-point mark.
• Rosa, who has played on the top line all season with Black, produced 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points last winter, while Terry Woods '11 recorded 14 goals and 16 points for 30 points during the 2009-10 campaign.
POSTSEASON PRODUCTION
• Rosa (2-1-3), Flynn (2-1-3) and Black (1-2-3) combined for seven of their nine postseason points in games against Skidmore and Norwich last season.
• The Beavers have 17 players on their roster that have played in at least one conference tournament game, 11 of which made their postseason debut last winter.
LEAD DOGS
• Egan (4-6-10), Wiesner (4-3-7) and McDougall (3-4-7) have each contributed points in all four games against Southern Maine over the last two seasons.
• Black (1-5-6) is riding a three-game points streaking against the Huskies, while Rosa (3-4-7) and Flynn (1-2-3) registered points in both regular season games this winter.
POINTS FROM THE POINT
• McDougall (7-12-19), who ranks fifth among NEHC defensemen in scoring, senior Connor Dahlman (1-13-14) and sophomore John Corrigan (1-12-13) give the Beavers three defensemen with double-digit points for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign.
NUMER TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 11-0-2 this season and are unbeaten over their last 42 games going back to 2017 when allowing two goals or less.
