BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College exploded for four goals in the span of 1:39 midway through the first period on the way to defeating visiting UMass Boston, 6-3, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's ice hockey action on Saturday inside the Babson Skating Center.

Babson, which extended its winning streak to three and its unbeaten streak to 12 games, improves to 12-3-2 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play. UMass Boston, which has dropped three straight games, slips to 8-8-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the NEHC.

First-year Andrew Holland (Winchester, Mass.) finished with two goals and one assist, while seniors Connor Dahlman (Stamford, Conn.) and Ryan McDougall (Milton, Mass.), junior Cooper Norton (Williston, Vt.) and sophomore Ryan Black (Pomfret, Conn.) all scored once for the Beavers. Junior Nick Rosa (Birmingham, Mich.) and sophomore John Corrigan (Scituate, Mass.) recorded two assists apiece as 11 different players contributed a point in the victory.

Sophomore goaltender Aidan Murphy (Walpole, Mass.) raised his record to 8-0-1 on the year with a 37-save performance for Babson.

First-year Joe Petruzzella (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished with a goal and an assist, while junior Jack Riley (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Peters (Fairport, N.Y.) both scored once for the Beacons. Senior Derek Caruso (Port Washington, N.Y.) collected two assists, while first-year Sam Best (Woburn, Mass.) stopped 22 shots in relief of junior Nolan Egbert (North Massapequa, N.Y.), who allowed three goals on 14 shots over the first 11:15 of the first period.

Holland opened the scoring at 6:10 of the first period when he split two defenders and flipped a shot past Egbert after sophomore Cam Schmitt (Andover, Mass.) intercepted a pass in the neutral zone. UMass Boston was whistled for a five-minute interference penalty just over a minute later and the Beavers capitalized by scoring three times on the power play and four times in less than two minutes to blow the game open.

Holland buried the rebound of a shot by McDougall to make it 2-0 on a 5-on-3 power play at the 10:55 mark. Dahlman scored his first goal of the season with a wrist shot from the right point at 11:15 and Black finished off a centering feed from Corrigan 11 seconds later for a 4-0 advantage. The Beacons got back to full strength at the 12:19 mark, but sophomores Jack Nisbet (Scituate, Mass.) and Hunter Garlasco (Mahwah, N.J.) helped dig the puck out of the left corner setting up Norton for his second goal of the year as the Green and White extended the margin to 5-0 at 12:34.

Petruzzella scored from the right point to get UMass Boston on the board with just over six minutes to play in the first, and Peters notched his seventh goal from a tough angle along the goal line to make it 5-2 just 4:17 into the second period. Babson was able to successfully kill off 53 seconds of a 5-on-3 penalty following Peters' tally, and got eight saves from Murphy over the first three minutes of the third period to maintain a three-goal edge.

McDougall scored his fourth goal of the season from the left point at the 4:19 mark of the third to give the Green and White some extra breathing room.

The Beacons finished with a 40-39 edge in shots on goal but went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Beavers, who outshot the visitors 22-7 in the opening period, converted 3-of-6 power play opportunities.

Both teams return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. as Babson hosts New England College, while UMass Boston entertains Southern Maine.

• Babson, which opened the weekend series with a 1-0 win over the Beacons on Friday night, picked up its first regular season sweep of UMass Boston since 2014 with Saturday's victory.
• The Beavers' current 12-game unbeaten streak is the program's longest since the 2004-05 campaign when they went 14-0-2 over a 16-game stretch from January 8-March 5.
• Babson, which was playing its first home game since December 7, has outscored NEHC opponents 18-3 in three contests inside the Babson Skating Center this winter.
