Women's Lacrosse Overwhelms Emerson, 25-4

Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Lexi Lenaghan (Hanover, Mass.) finished with six goals and five assists for 11 points and Babson College had 13 players score at least once on its way to defeating visiting Emerson College, 25-4, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.

With its eighth win in the last 10 contests, Babson improves to 10-5 overall and 6-0 in league play, while Emerson drops to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the NEWMAC with its 26th consecutive loss.

First-year Coco Creedon (McKinney, Texas) scored a career-high four goals and sophomore Georgia Salvatore (Westwood, Mass.) dished out a career-best six assists on her way to a seven-point day for the Beavers. Senior Riley Buonagurio (Duxbury, Mass.) tallied three times, junior Valerie Quinlan (Norwood, Mass.) contributed two goals, two assists, five ground balls and four draws, and sophomore Cricket Fligor (Weston, Mass.) stopped five shots in the victory.

Sophomore Kelli Mark (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) finished with two goals and one assist, while junior Jenna Tomsky (Clinton, N.J.) had a goal to go along with two ground balls and a game-high six draw controls for the Lions. First-year Elizabeth Fretz (Falls Church, Va.) made five saves in the loss.

Leading 2-1 just over three minutes into the contest the Green and White rattled off 10 consecutive goals in the span of 9:35 to pull away. Buonagurio connected on back-to-back free-position chances, Quinlan scored two in a row following a Salvatore tally, and Creedon and Lenaghan combined for four straight markers to make it 11-1 at the 17:16 mark.

Buonagurio notched her third goal of the half 92 seconds later, and the Beavers answered Tomsky's score for Emerson with the final six markers of the half. Lenaghan tallied three more times and set up two other goals to extend Babson's lead to 18-2 at the half.

Williams opened the second half with her first goal of the year, while senior Christine Regan (Osterville, Mass.) and juniors Maria Bravo (Windermere, Fla.) and Sarah DeLucia (Guilford, Conn.), and sophomore Isabelle Lent (Madison, Conn.) all notched their first career tallies over the final 30 minutes.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. as Babson hosts Wheaton, while Emerson takes on Wellesley.

GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are 5-1 all-time against Emerson.
• Lenaghan, who set the program's single-season record with 102 points last season, now holds the top two spots on the list as she is up to 92 points this spring. Her 69 goals through 15 games are also Babson's second highest total behind Anna Collins '10, who finished with 75 goals in 2009.
• The Beavers' 25 goals are a new school record surpassing the 24 scored in a 2012 NEWMAC Tournament semifinal win over Wellesley and matched in a victory at the University of New England earlier this season.
