Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Samuel Mishkind (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and first-year Owen Allen (Franklin, Mass.) both finished with four goals and one assist for five points as Babson College cruised past visiting UMass Dartmouth, 15-4, in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon at MacDowell Field.

With the win, Babson is now 2-2 on the year, while UMass Dartmouth slips to 1-2 overall.

Junior Axel Brown (Little Compton, R.I.) and sophomore Brendan Duffy (Duxbury, Mass.) both scored two goals and recorded one assist for the Beavers. Junior Connor Maloney (Hopkinton, Mass.) and first-year Kevin Klempner (Stuart, Fla.) combined to win 14-of-18 face-offs, while classmate Tyler Patterson (Millstone Township, N.J.) scooped up three ground balls and led all players with four caused turnovers in the win.

Senior Sean Peters (Medway, Mass.) scored four times for the Corsairs, who 16 saves from classmate Matt LaFond (Bridgewater, Mass.).

Allen scored all four of his goals in the first half and the Green and White took advantage of three extra-man opportunities to build a commanding 9-0 lead with 1:39 left in the second quarter. Peters got UMass Dartmouth on the board with 13 seconds left in the stanza and then struck for three goals over the first eight minutes of the third quarter to cut the Beavers' lead to 9-4 at the 7:17 mark.

Babson regrouped and scored the first of six unanswered goals when Duffy converted a feed from Mishkind just 70 seconds later. Senior Connor Flaherty (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) notched his third tally of the year 2:20 into the fourth quarter, and Mishkind followed with three markers over the final 10:38 for the final margin.

Senior Jordan Shapiro (Pleasantville, N.Y.) started and made two first-quarter saves in between the pipes to earn his first win of the year for the Green and White. First-years Andrew Tymkiv (Oakville, Ontario) and Jerry Baerwitz (Buffalo, N.Y.) combined for three saves over the final three periods in their first collegiate action.

The Beavers, who converted 5-of-8 extra-man opportunities, finished with a lopsided edge in both shots (54-17) and ground balls (41-24). They also were a perfect 12-of-12 on clear chances over the final three quarters.
