Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.--Senior Katie McKenna (Sandwich, Mass.) scored three times, while classmate Francesca Giovanucci (Easton, Mass.) and junior Lyndsay Giroux (Westwood, Mass.) each contributed two goals apiece as Babson College defeated visiting Bridgewater State University, 14-3, in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday at MacDowell Field.
McKenna added three draw controls and three ground balls, while junior Charlotte O'Halloran (Middletown, R.I.) had a goal and an assist for the Beavers. Clasmate Julia Harrigan (Portsmouth, R.I.) led all players with five draw controls and senior Delaney Carroll (Acton, Mass.) led all players with five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Sophomore Elizabeth Etteridge (Marshfield, Mass.) had two goals and one assist, classmate Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.) led all players with six ground balls and senior Gaelin Reall (Providence, R.I.) caused four turnovers for the Bears.
Leading 2-1 late in the first half, the Green and White scored three times in the span of 1:23 to seize control of the game. Giroux buried a free-position shot at the 6:54 and McKenna and Giovanucci followed with tallies just 28 seconds apart to make it 5-1 with 5:31 to go in the period.
O'Halloran converted a free-position opportunity just before halftime, and the Beavers scored the first six goals of the second half to push their lead to 12-1 with 12:18 to go in the contest. Sophomore Olivia McCahan (Providence, R.I.) notched the first tally of her career with a free-position shot at the 17:46 mark and first-year Taylor Herrmann (Mahwah, N.J.) picked up her first collegiate assist on junior Annie Arthur's (West Windsor, Vt.) just over five minutes later.
Senior Stevie Burger (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) started and made three first-half saves before giving way to first-year Olivia Phelan (Wilton, Conn.), who stopped three shots over the final 30 minutes in her collegiate debut.
First-year Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) made 12 saves in her debut for Bridgewater State.
Both teams are back in action next Saturday as Babson visits Skidmore at 2 p.m., while the Bears travel to Mount Holyoke at 12 p.m.
