Box Score SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt.—Junior Tim Searles (Chesapeake, Va.) scored twice and sophomore Matt McMorrow (Pearl River, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist as No. 6 USCHO.com/No. 7 D3hockey.com Babson College defeated Saint Michael's College, 5-1, in New England Hockey Conference action on Saturday at Cairns Arena.
With its fifth win in the last six games, Babson is now 16-5-2 overall and 12-3-1 in league play, while Saint Michael's drops to 6-17-0 on the year and 3-14-0 in the NEHC.
Senior Jimmy Magrath (Medfield, Mass.) and junior Bill Seligman (Toronto, Ontario) also scored once for the Beavers, while sophomores Charlie Ackerman (Bradenton, Fla.) and Bobby Hall (Westwood, Mass.) each finished with two assists for the Beavers. Sophomores Rob Devaney (Reading, Mass.), Jake Donahue (Groveland, Mass.) and Matt Holtshouser (Londonderry, N.H.) all chipped in with one assist apiece in the win.
Babson took control of the game with three goals in less than six minutes midway through the first period. McMorrow notched his fourth of the season at the 7:34 mark to make it 1-0 and Searles followed with his first of the afternoon off a centering feed from Hall to give the Green and White a two-goal lead just 1:39 later. Seligman took advantage of a Purple Knights' turnover in their defensive zone for his sixth goal of the year, collecting the loose puck and beating senior goaltender Michael Comitini (Hudson, Quebec) up high for a 3-0 advantage at 13:21.
Saint Michael's cut the deficit to 3-1 on first-year Colin Biebel's (Roxborough Park, Colo.) power-play tally 11:44 into the second period. The Green and White answered little over seven minutes later though, as Magrath recorded his third goal of the winter just 1:06 before the second intermission to make it 4-1.
Searles scored his eighth goal of the year 4:53 into the third period, while Devaney and fellow sophomore Josh Casper (Lake Forest, Ill.) both hit the post over the final 15 minutes. Babson, which was on the penalty kill for nearly four straight minutes midway through the third, killed off a pair of penalties to maintain the four-goal advantage.
First-year Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) bounced back after suffering his first career loss on Friday night with 28 saves for the Green and White on Saturday. Comitini turned away 40 shots in the final home game of his career for the Purple Knights.
The Beavers finished 0-for-3 on the power play, while Saint Micahel's scored on one of its five man-advantage opportunities.
Babson returns to action on Friday when it hosts Saint Anselm at 7 p.m., while the Purple Knights visit Norwich in its regular-season finale next Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The Beavers are 21-2-1 all-time against Saint Michael's and are unbeaten in 18 straight games (17-0-1) against the Purple Knights since 2004.
