Box Score NEW BEDFORD, Mass.—First-year Matt Brazel (Hingham, Mass.) had a goal and an assist, while classmate Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) stopped 26 shots in his collegiate debut to help third-ranked Babson College defeat UMass-Dartmouth, 3-0, in non-conference men's ice hockey action on Tuesday night at Hetland Arena.
Babson, which extended its winning streak in the month of November to 24 games, is now 7-0-0 on the year, while UMass-Dartmouth falls to 1-4-2 overall.
Junior Bill Seligman (Toronto, Ontario) and first-year Tommy Munichiello (Weymouth, Mass.) also scored for the Beavers. Junior Dan Casey (Chatham, N.J.) chipped in with two assists, while senior Max Franklin (Wrentham, Mass.), junior Tim Searles (Chesapeake, Va.) and first-year Matt Michalke (Parma, Ohio) all contributed one assist apiece.
Pompa was superb in his first career start, stopping 10 shots in the first period and 16 over the final the final two frames to record his first career shutout. Babson, which is second in Division III in scoring defense, has allowed just one goal over its last five games.
Brazel scored for the second time in as many games, this time on the power play, at 8:58 of the first period to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. Despite a 25-10 edge in first-period shots, the Green and White did not extend their advantage until Munichiello notched the second goal of his career at 13:39 of the second period to make it 2-0.
Seligman tacked on his third tally of the year at 16:56 of the third period, getting behind the Corsairs' defense and beating sophomore goalkeeper Drew Michals (Newton, Mass.) through the five-hole to give the Beavers a 3-0 lead.
Michals, who stopped 24 shots in the opening 20 minutes, finished with a career-high 55 saves in defeat for UMass-Dartmouth.
The Green and White had a 58-26 edge in shots on goal and took advantage of its only power play opportunity of the game. The Beavers also held the Corsairs scoreless on one power play chance.
Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson heads to western New York to take on Nazareth at 3 p.m., while UMass-Dartmouth travels to Southern New Hampshire at 4:10 p.m.

• The Beavers are now 9-6-3 all-time against UMass-Dartmouth and are unbeaten over the last four years against the Corsairs.
• The Green and White has scored six first-period goals over the last three games, and has scored first in each of its seven contests this season.
• Casey has produced two goals and four assists for six points against UMass-Dartmouth over the last two years.
