CLERMONT, Fla.—Senior Katie D'Antonio (Garden City, N.Y.)  and sophomore Margaret Gabriel (Washington, D.C.) both scored three times helping 16th-ranked Hamilton College defeat Babson College, 15-7, in non-conference women's lacrosse action at the National Training Center on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, Hamilton is now 2-2 on the year, while Babson drops to 0-5.

Senior Misha Beatty (Westwood, Mass.) had three goals and a season-high five draw controls to lead the Beavers. Junior Rachel Secrist (Westford, Mass.) scored twice and sophomore Kayla Farina (Newton, Mass.) tallied once and collected a team-high three groundballs.

Gabriel also had three draw controls while first-year Casey File (Huntington, N.Y.) chipped in with a pair of goals and one assist for the Continentals. First-year Nora Klemmer (Sherborn, Mass.) scored twice and senior Lauren Brady (Kent, Conn.) led all players with five draw controls in the win.

Hamilton jumped out a an early 4-0 lead, scoring four times in the opening 9:22. Beatty tallied twice for the Green and White on free-position shots around a goal from File to cut the deficit to 5-2 with 16:45 left in the first half. The Continentals closed the period with four of the final five goals to take a 9-3 edge into halftime.

Secrist got Babson back within 9-4 with her first tally of the game 5:57 after halftime, but Hamilton responded with back-to-back goals by Gabriel and File to make it 11-4 with 16:43 remaining. Farina, converting an assist from first-year Kiley Fischer (Marblehead, Mass.), and Secrist scored just 1:17 apart as the Green and White trimmed the deficit to 11-6 at the 13:33 mark.

D'Antonio helped the Continentals regain momentum, notching a goal with 10:13 left, and Klemmer followed with consecutive scores to put the game out of reach.

Senior Julie Baharestani (Syosset, N.Y.) made a season-high 11 saves for the Beavers, who were outshot 35-16. Kari Koga (Eldorado Springs, Colo.) stopped four shots for Hamilton.

The Continentals held a 14-10 edge in draw controls  and had a 16-13 advantage in groundballs on the day.

Both teams return to action on Thursday as Babson takes on William Smith at 9 a.m. and Hamilton faces nationally-ranked Amherst at 11 a.m.
