BOX SCORE
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Babson College received two goals from
junior Mike Hoban and two assists from first-year
Ryan Heavey, but it wasn't enought to prevent a
3-2 loss to 15th-ranked Williams College in an ECAC East/NESCAC
men's ice hockey clash on Friday night. With the win, the Ephs
improved to 12-6-3 overall and 9-5-2 in the NESCAC, while the
Beavers fell to 9-10-3 overall and 7-6-3 in the ECAC East.
Babson sophomore Zeke Testa and Williams' Ryan
Purdy each finished with 26 saves in net, with 10 of Testa's stops
and 11 of Purdy's saves coming in the third period.
Hoban gave Babson the first lead of the contest when he scored
off assists from Heavey and sophomore PT Donato on
the powerplay at 6:55 of the opening period, but the Ephs responded
with a powerplay score of their own when Matt Masucci tallied his
10th of the year at 9:36. Hoban then put his team back in front
late in the second session, as he netted his second powerplay goal
of the night and his eighth tally of the season at 19:22. The goal,
which was assisted by Heavey and freshman Ben
Kravitz, gave the Beavers a 2-1 advantage heading into the
final period of play.
Williams tied it with their second powerplay goal of the night
and the fourth in the contest, as Eric Rubino potted his 10th goal
of the winter at 4:30. Stephen Maier then scored the game-winner at
6:13 of the third as Williams completed the 3-2 comeback
victory.
