SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Senior captain Jason
Schneider scored the go-ahead goal less than five minutes
into the third period to lead the Babson College men's ice
hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Skidmore College in ECAC East
action on Friday night at the Saratoga City Rink.
The Beavers improved to 5-3-0 overall and 7-6-0 in league play,
while the Thoroughbreds fell to 3-9-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the
league.
Babson got on the board first when PT Donato put
home a rebound on the power play at the 17:23 mark of the first
period. The sophomore's team-leading seventh goal of the year
was assisted by Jay Haseley and Ryan
Heavey.
After a scoreless second period, Nick Dupuis tied it up 22 seconds
into the third period for Skidmore, taking a pass from Alex Essaris
for his 6th of the season. Just a few minutes later, the Beavers
got their second power play goal of the game, this time from
Schneider with assists from Dan Ahern and
Terry Woods to give Babson a 2-1 lead at 4:34. The
Thoroughbreds could not fight back from the deficit as Heavey added
an empty net goal with three seconds left to give the Beavers a 3-1
victory.
Andrew Ross made 34 saves for Skidmore, while Zeke
Testa finished with 29 stops for Babson.
The Beavers outshot Skidmore, 37-30 and finished 2-for-4 on the
power play.
