BOX SCORE
SALEM, Mass. - Nick Lampson (Groton, MA) notched a pair of third
period goals to lift the Salem State University Vikings to a 4-1
victory over the Babson Beavers on Friday afternoon at Rockett
Arena.
Lampson, who scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season, now
leads the conference with three game-winning goals.
James Lacour (Silver, Spring, MD) stopped fourteen of fifteen
Babson shots to earn his third win. Sophomore Zeke
Testa (Wellesley, MA) turned away twenty-two of the
Vikings' twenty-six shots on goal in the loss. The
Beavers' record now stands at 4-5-0 on the year.
Babson's PT Donato (Arlington, MA) found the
back of the net first at 14:13 in the first period after taking a
feed from Matt Furey (Quincy, MA). The goal
gave Babson a 1-0 lead until the opening minutes of the final
period.
Lampson broke the Vikings goal drought at the 1:31 mark of the
third period when he made a backhanded swipe at a Kyle Phelan
(Barnstable, MA) rebound that edged past the outstretched skate of
Testa. A few moments later deep in Beaver territory, Ian
Flanagan (New Hampton, NH) relentlessly battled against the boards
for possession of the puck. Flanagan won the battle and
served up Lampson for the go-ahead goal.
At 12:08 Giancarlo Capodanno (Mountainside, NJ) added an insurance
goal after taking a pass down low from Michael Genovese (Hingham,
MA). Capodanno's stick took the puck into the corner of
the goal to find light behind Testa for the third Vikings
goal. Capodanno returned the favor at 15:11 with a pass from
the end boards that Genovese buried behind the Babson net-minder to
close out the game at 4-1.
