BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College men's lacrosse team
defeated Lasell College 14-10 in a Pilgrim League matchup on
Wednesday night at MacDowell Field. Babson was led by sophomore
Andrew Packer (Hudson, Ohio) with four goals on the night. With the
win, Babson has improved to an overall record of 5-9, 4-2 in the
Pilgrim League and Lasell is now 4-10, 2-4 in the Pilgrim League.
Packer scored the first goal of the game at the 12:46 mark in
the first period. Lasell's Brandon Keith (Marston Mills, Mass.)
tied the game, 1-1 just 30 seconds later. Babson then went on a 3-0
run receiving goals from Matt Enright (Bristol, R.I.);
Bryan Wilbur (Hingham, Mass.) and Packer to give them the
4-1 lead. The Lasers were able to tie the game again, 7-7, when
Dave Bulhoes (Billerica, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal with just
under seven minutes remaining in the half. The Beavers then went on
another three goal run scoring the final goals of the half giving
them the 10-7 lead at the break.
Babson pushed their lead to four, 11-7 to start the second half,
but the Lasers then scored two goals to end the quarter and to
bring the game to within two, 11-9 entering the final period.
Lasell was unable to get any closer as the Beavers started the
fourth quarter with three unanswered goals en route to their 14-9
victory.
For Babson, Packer led the way with four goals. He was followed
by Enright with three goals and seniors Wilbur and E.J.
Peterson (Framingham, Mass.) who each tallied two goals
and one assist. Senior Matt Harrington (Hanover,
Mass.) and sophomores Armand Wilson (Fairfield,
Conn.) and Jake Konaxis (Beverly, Mass.)
rounded out the Beaver offense adding one goal each.
Defensively, Babson was led by sophomores Mike Lydon
(Norfolk, N.H.) and Christian Ebert (Boxford,
Mass.) along with E.J. Peterson who each picked up five
groundballs. Senior Max Owen (Hamilton, N.J.) and
sophomore Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) spilt the
time in net for the Beavers combining for eleven saves on the day.
Keith led the Lasers with four goals and one assist for a game
high five points. Bulhoes chipped in two goals and one assist while
Mike Maggio (Winchester, Mass.) and Chris
Bulkley (Groton, Conn.) each added one goal.
Vincent DiClemente (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Anthony Erz (Hampton, N.J.) each contributed their
first goals of the season with one each. Erz also led the game
winning 15 of his 21 face-offs. Sophomore goalkeeper Mike
Kelliher (Weymouth, Mass.) went the distance in net for
the Lasers making 15 saves and picking up a game high six
groundballs.
Both teams will finish out their regular seasons this weekend as
Babson will host Wheaton College on Saturday for a 1pm Pilgrim
League matchup and Lasell will host Clark on Sunday at 1pm in a
Pilgrim League game.
