WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Babson College men's ice hockey team
suffered a tough 5-1 setback at Williams College in an ECAC
East/NESCAC game on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Beavers
dropped to 9-12-1 overall and 8-9-0 in the ECAC East.
Babson outshot the hosts, 30-23, in the contest, but goalie Ryan
Purdy held the Beavers to just a third-period goal by senior
JT Balben off assists from junior Jason
Schneider and sophomore Terry Woods. By
that point, the Ephs had already put up five goals, including two
in each of the first two periods and a powerplay score four minutes
into the third.
Purdy finished with 29 saves in net for Williams, while
first-year Andrew Peabody and senior
Skylar Nipps made nine stops apiece for Babson.
The Beavers now return home for their final two regular season
games, as they host Connecticut College on Friday night and Tufts
on Saturday. Babson is currently tied with Skidmore for fourth
place in the conference, with the top four teams earning the right
to host in the league Quarterfinals on February 28.
