SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Skidmore College scored four
unanswered goals in the final 21 minutes to defeat visiting Babson
College, 4-1, in an ECAC East men's ice hockey contest on Saturday
afternoon. With the win, the Thoroughbreds upped their record to
10-8-0 overall and 6-7-0 in the conference, while the Beavers
slipped to 7-10-1 overall and 6-7-0 in the ECAC East.
Babson jumped in front midway through the opening period, as
junior Jason Schneider scored off assists from
junior Chris Sabo and senior Alex
DiPietro on the powerplay at 8:56. The Beavers would
maintain that 1-0 cushion until the final minute of the second,
when Skidmore's Alex Mykolenko netted an unassisted short-handed
goal, tying the game with 39 seconds left.
The Thoroughbreds put the game away with a huge third period,
scoring three times en route to the 4-1 victory. Teddy Gowan netted
the first at 8:14, Matt Czerkowicz scored the second at 12:05, and
Anthony Ferri scored the third at 14:27.
Andrew Ross went the distance in net for Skidmore, making 25
saves. Senior Skylar Nipps made 12 saves in 54:27
for Babson, while sophomore Dustyn Zenner stopped
two shots in the final 5:33.
