Junior Pat McLaughlin, senior Mike Venit, and sophomore Shane Farrell each recorded one goal and one assist to lead the 15th-ranked Babson College men's ice hockey team to a 4-3 victory over host Saint Anselm in an ECAC East matchup on Friday night. With their second straight win, the Beavers improved to 13-4-3 overall and 9-3-2 in league play, while the Hawks dipped to 5-10-3 overall and 1-10-3 in the East.
Babson scored the first four goals of the game, beginning with sophomore Jason Schnedier's 10th of the year off an assist from classmate Chris Wood at 10:12 of the first. It remained a 1-0 game until early in the second, when Farrell converted a feed from Venit at 1:48 to give the Beavers a two-goal cushion.
Venit tacked on another goal for Babson when he scored his ninth of the year off McLaughlin's assist at 8:32. McGlaughlin then made it 4-0 with his 10th at 12:03, with Farrell picking up the assist.
Saint Anselm began chipping away at the Babson lead when Coleman Noonan scored on the powerplay at 13:24 of the second, and the Hawks cut it to two after a Colin Fitzpatrick goal at 8:39 of the third. Noonan then scored his second of the night at 10:15 of the final session to make it 4-3, but the hosts would get closer as the Beavers fought off a key Saint Anselm powerplay later in the period.
Junior Skylar Nipps finished with 13 saves for Babson, while Pat Gallagher stopped a total of 29 shots in goal for Saint Anselm.
