Cristina Viera

Cristina Viera is in her second season as assistant women's volleyball coach at Babson in 2023.

In her first season on the Babson staff, Viera helped the Beavers to a 23-8 record, the championship match of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament and the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, and two Babson student-athletes earned AVCA All-America honorable mention and All-Region accolades.

Viera came to Babson following a three-year stint as an assistant volleyball coach at fellow NEWMAC institution Smith College. She was involved in all facets of the program, including recruiting, individual practice sessions and in-match strategy for the Pioneers, who recorded their third-highest win total since 2005 and reached the conference tournament quarterfinals for the first time since 2013 last season.

A 2018 graduate of Peru State University in Nebraska, Viera was a two-year standout as a defensive specialist for the Bobcats. She was twice selected as the AVCA-NAIA Midwest Region Libero of the Year, earned a pair of all-conference first-team accolades and collected AVCA All-America honors in both 2016 and 2017.

Viera, who started her career at Division II Cameron University in Oklahoma, also garnered 2015 Lone Star Conference honorable mention laurels.

A native of Montevideo, Uruguay, Viera was a member of the country's national women's volleyball team from 2010-14. She was selected as the Uruguayan national team most valuable player in 2011 and competed in Olympic qualifying matches in 2012.

Viera earned her master of science degree in exercise and sports studies from Smith in 2021.
