Babson Women Repeat as Runner-Up in NEWMAC Presidents Cup Standings

Beavers Record Highest Point Total in Department History, Place Second for Fifth Time in Last Six Years

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Babson College secured two conference tournament championships and one regular season title while raising its point total for the sixth year in a row to repeat as the runner-up in the 2025-26 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Presidents Cup standings, which were announced on Thursday.

The Presidents Cup is an all-sports award presented to the top overall men's and women's programs in the conference and is determined using a weighted points system based on the order of finish during both the regular season and championship play going back to 2013.

The Beavers totaled a program-best 9.310 points to place second for the second year in a row, the fifth time since 2020 and sixth time overall. MIT claimed its 11th straight NEWMAC Presidents Cup with 11.315 points, the Coast Guard Academy (9.106) came in third and Springfield College (8.850) and WPI (7.933) rounded out the top five.

Field hockey claimed its fifth straight regular season and tournament championships in the fall, while tennis won its first NEWMAC Tournament title since 2014 after coming in second in the regular season standings. Volleyball, which advanced to the conference tournament final, and basketball also finished second in the regular season standings, and swimming & diving scored its most points and finished a program-best fourth at the league meet back in February.

Soccer, lacrosse and softball all placed fourth in the regular season standings, while track & field matched its best finish in a NEWMAC Championship (5th) with the highest point total in program history.

In addition to their conference success, both field hockey and tennis advanced to the national semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. Field hockey matched a program record with 22 wins and reached the Final Four for the second time in three seasons and third time overall, while tennis set a program record for wins (19) and upset No. 2 Chicago in the national quarterfinals.

Volleyball also returned to the NCAA Tournament and won its opening match before falling in five sets in the second round.
