Babson Men Win Fourth Straight NEWMAC Presidents Cup

Beavers Claim Five Conference Titles, Record Highest Point Total in Department History

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Following a historic 2025-26 campaign that included five conference tournament championships, two regular season titles and top-four finishes by eight different programs, Babson College retained the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Presidents Cup for the fourth year in a row on Thursday.

The Presidents Cup is an all-sports award presented to the top overall men's and women's programs in the conference and is determined using a weighted points system based on the order of finish during both the regular season and championship play going back to 2013.

The Beavers finished atop the standings with a program-record 10.245 points, while second-place MIT (8.848) and third-place WPI (8.807) were separated by less than a half-point. Springfield College came in fourth with 8.748 points, while Wheaton College (7.750) rounded out the top five.

"Babson Athletics is an important component of our education philosophy.  Teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, goal setting, and more, support the creation of entrepreneurial leaders. Winning the NEWMAC Presidents' Cup for the fourth consecutive year reflects our philosophy that excellence is an imperative in everything we do," said Stephen Spinelli Jr. MBA'92, PhD, president of Babson College and Chair of the NEWMAC Presidents Council. "Babson's student-athletes have set the bar high. Across every team, our students bring focus, discipline, and a commitment to shared success in competition, the classroom, and throughout our community. I am grateful to Michael Lynch, our coaches, teachers, training staff, and our amazingly supportive alumni. Thank you!"

Lacrosse captured its fourth consecutive conference tournament championship for the first time in school history, tennis claimed back-to-back regular season and tournament titles for the first time, and soccer repeated as NEWMAC Tournament champions after finishing second in the regular season. Basketball won its third conference tournament crown in the span of four seasons after coming in second during the regular season, while baseball earned its second conference championship in three seasons following a third-place finish in the regular season standings.

"It is a terrific honor to win the NEWMAC Presidents Cup," said Babson College Pamela P. and Brian M. Barefoot Associate Vice President for Athletics and Athletics Advancement Mike Lynch. "Our student-athletes, coaches and staff work incredibly hard, and this honor is a reflection of their dedication and commitment to success. We are continually striving to compete at the highest level and are proud of everything we've accomplished this year."

Cross country placed third at the NEWMAC meet for the fifth straight season, and swimming & diving and track & field both came in fourth at their respective conference championship meets.

In addition to the conference success, lacrosse advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the first time in school history, while tennis advanced to its second straight NCAA regional final. Soccer and basketball both reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and baseball recorded its first NCAA victory since the 2019 College World Series.
