MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Eight Babson College student-athletes were recognized when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Sportsmanship Teams for the 2026 spring season on Monday.
The award recognizes one student-athlete from each institution in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season.
Baseball
Owen Stephens | Sr. | Glastonbury, Conn.
Stephens saw action in 19 games this season with 11 starts for the Beavers, mostly at third base and left field. He batted .260 with 13 hits, including a double, a triple, two home runs, seven RBI and 11 runs scored. He had three multi-hit games and belted a home run in Babson's win over No. 3/4 Salve Regina in April. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a pair of NCAA Tournament games against Southern Maine to wrap up the season.
Men's Lacrosse
Braden Reilly | Sr. | Reading, Mass.
Reilly saw action in all 21 games this spring with 11 starts and finished third on the team in scoring with 56 points on 29 goals and 27 assists, including three game-winning goals and four man-up scores. He had at least one point in 19 games with 15 multi-point outings, including career-highs of five goals and six points in an NCAA Tournament victory over Mass. Maritime. He finished with nine goals and five assists in five post-season games, including a goal and three assists against No. 10 RIT in the NCAA tournament national quarterfinals.
Women's Lacrosse
Tatum Sands | Sr. | East Dorset, Vt.
Sands appeared in 18 games at midfield for the Beavers this spring with 10 starts, scoring seven goals and adding three assists for 10 points. She also registered 12 draw controls, five caused turnovers and 14 ground balls. She produced points in six of her last nine games, including a season-high three points (2g, 1a) in a NEWMAC playoff loss to MIT. She scooped up at least one ground ball in her last five outings and collected multiple ground balls in four games this spring.
Softball
Allie Cubberly | Sr. | Lagrangeville, N.Y.
Cubberly saw action in 24 games this season, including 17 starts, and batted .205 with nine hits, three walks, two doubles, a career-high 11 RBI and six runs scored. She went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI in a win over Salve Regina, and had three hits and two RBI in a victory over Wellesley. A four-year veteran, she played in 108 career games, producing 22 hits, 12 walks, six doubles, one triple, 21 RBI and 20 runs scored.
Men's Tennis
Edward Wang | So. | Burr Ridge, Ill.
Wang had another outstanding campaign for the Beavers. He finished second on the team in singles victories with a 17-7 record, going 14-5 in dual matches. He also posted an impressive 28-8 mark in doubles and earned a spot on the All-NEWMAC doubles team. His 28 doubles wins are second-most in a season in program history and his 27-7 mark with classmate
Sebastian Mendoza are the most wins in program history by a doubles team. He owns career records of 41-11 in singles and 45-18 in doubles, and his 86 career victories rank fifth in program history in combined singles and doubles wins.
Women's Tennis
Dana Kamal | Jr. | Cairo, Egypt
Kamal posted a 9-5 record in singles and a 17-7 mark in doubles for the Beavers, which is the fourth-most doubles wins on the team. She was 4-2 in dual-match singles and was 9-6 in doubles in dual matches. A three-year veteran for the Beavers, she has career records of 18-9 in singles and 33-22 in doubles and was named the Most Outstanding Player in this year's NEWMAC Tournament.
Men's Track & Field
Skyler Mott | GS | Mills Neck, N.Y.
Mott because just the fourth athlete in program history to earn All-America recognition with a 12th-place finish in the men's high jump at the NCAA Championships. He registered the top seven performances in the high jump in program history, all 6-feet, 7-inches or higher and including his program-record leap of 6-feet. 9.75-inches set back in March. Mott made the most of his only season for the Beavers after transferring from Lehigh.
Women's Track & Field
Maddie Stoltz | Jr. | Somers, Conn.
Stoltz competed in five meets for the Beavers in 2025, with multiple events in all meets. She excelled at the heptathlon, scoring 2296 points at the Tufts Stampede on April 10-11, and placed seventh at the NEWMAC Championships with 2882 points on April 24-25. She has the 10th highest score in program history in the heptathlon with 2973 points at the NEWMAC Championships in 2024.
