No. 11 Men's Tennis Sweeps Emerson, 7-0

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Mason Nguyen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) was one of four players to recorded victories in both singles and doubles as No. 11 Babson College defeated Emerson College, 7-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Courts. 

Babson, which has now won three consecutive matches, improves to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Emerson lost for just the second time in its last seven matches and is now 7-7 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC. 

Junior Louis Bourn (Geneva, Switzerland) and first-year Max Lidman (Stockholm, Sweden) cruised to a 6-0 win at number two doubles, Nguyen and first-year Rishi Batlanki (Monroe Township, N.J.) posted a 6-1 victory at number three and senior Martin Mejia (Cali, Colombia) and first-year Sourish Ghadi (Morganville, N.J.) edged the Lions' duo of junior Filippo Nocchi (Pontedera, Italy) and sophomore Connor Leung (Mercer Island, Wash.) 7-6 at number one to complete the sweep. 

Batlanki picked up his second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 result against Leung at number two, Lidman was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number three and Nguyen rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number six. Gadhi joined the trio with his second triumph of the day be defeating Tai Finestone (), 6-2, 6-1, at number four. 

First-year Dylan O'Connell-DeCerchio (Santa Monica, Calif.) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five singles, while classmate Maxim Zlobinsky (Greenvale, N.Y.) won the closest match of the day at number defeating Nocchi 6-2, 6-4. 

Babson returns to action on Friday when it travels to 20th-ranked Amherst at 3:30 p.m., while Emerson hosts Springfield on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. 

MATCH NOTES
•    The Beavers are 15-0 all-time against Emerson. 
•    Zlobinsky and O'Connell-DeCerchio have both won three straight matches in singles. 
•    Babson has won 12 straight matches versus NEWMAC foes and owns a 16-match winning streak at the Babson Tennis Courts.
