Division III Men's Basketball Championship Bracket
BABSON PARK, Mass.—After capturing its third New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship in the last four seasons on Sunday, the Babson College men's basketball team learned that it will travel to Hartford, Conn., for the opening weekend of the Division III NCAA Tournament when the bracket was unveiled on Monday afternoon.
The Beavers (21-6), who have won nine straight and 15 of their last 16 games going back to early January 10, defeated Wheaton 81-56 to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The Green and White will be making its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history the 12th under the direction of 31st-year head coach
Stephen Brennan.
Babson will take on Saint Joseph's College (Maine), which captured its second consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title on Sunday, in a first round matchup on the campus of Trinity College at 4:30 p.m. The Monks (20-8) are making their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and fourth in school history.
Friday's other first round contest features No. 2 Trinity (25-2), the defending Division III national championships taking on Empire 8 champions Keuka College (15-13) at 7 p.m. The Bantams captured their second consecutive New England Small Conference Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and are making their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, while the Wolves will make their NCAA Tournament debut.
Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m.
