No. 20 Women's Volleyball Hosts Emerson in Key NEWMAC Showdown on Tuesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 14-3 all-time against Emerson in a series that dates back to 2009.
•    The Beavers have won 11 of the last 12 matches between the teams, which includes six consecutive victories over the Lions going back to the 2019 NEWMAC Tournament final. 
•    The Green and White is a perfect 8-0 all-time versus Emerson inside Staake Gymnasium. 
•    Four of the last seven matches between the teams have been decided in either four or five sets. 

LAST MEETING
•    Isabella Allen '26 and senior Hailey Fouche tied for match-high honors with nine kills apiece and classmate Zoe Ackerman provided 31 assists and four service aces to help Babson sweep Emerson, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19, on October 7, 2025, in Boston. 
•    Senior Allison Molendyk finished with eight kills and three blocks, Fouche led all players with five blocks and Sophia Shaw '26 added 13 digs for the Beavers, who ended the night with a .256 hitting percentage. 
•    Rachel Dickerson recorded seven kills and Chloe Hokenson contributed four kills, 13 assists, four blocks and four digs to lead the Lions, who totaled a season-low 23 kills in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 20 Babson (11-2, 3-1 NEWMAC) has won six of its last seven matches after recording a hard-fought three-set victory (25-22, 26-24, 25-23) at Coast Guard on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Fouche provided 11 kills, first-year Lia Gonzalez recorded her first career double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs, and Ackerman handed out 36 assists to go along with eight digs and three aces for the Beavers, who erased late deficits in both the first and third sets. 
•    Fouche ranks third in the conference in kills per set (3.33) and fourth in hitting percentage (.330), sophomore Devon Burke is averaging 2.47 kills per set while hitting .227 and Gonzalez (2.15 k/s, 2.67 digs/set) owns a .231 hitting percentage. 
•    Junior Angelina Holm is averaging 1.91 kills per set, ranks third in the league in blocks per set (1.00) and is sixth in hitting percentage (.307), Ackerman (10.07 ast/set, 1.88 d/s) is eighth in Division III in assists per set and junior Sabina Frosk is contributing a team-high 3.57 digs per set. 

SCOUTING THE LIONS
•    Emerson (13-1, 4-0 NEWMAC) extended its winning streak to eight matches by rallying for a five-set victory (20-25, 25-23, 20-25, 26-24, 15-11) at Springfield on Saturday. 
•    Dickerson recorded 20 kills and 12 digs, Addie Wooten contributed 14 kills and three blocks, and Hokensen added 37 assists and 11 digs for the Lions, who overcame their lowest hitting percentage of the season (.095) by matching their season highs with 91 digs and 10 total blocks. 
•    Dickerson ranks fifth in the NEWMAC in kills per set (3.17) on a .226 hitting percentage, Lizi Horning is averaging 2.83 kills per set and Wooten (2.39 k/s) has recorded double-digit kills in five matches and owns a .263 hitting percentage. 
•    Hokensen is averaging 2.11 kills, 5.66 assists and 2.43 digs per set, Sophia Schiappa is handing out 3.98 assists per set and leads the conference with 41 service aces, and Lauren Yoo ranks fourth in the league in digs per set (4.17). 

NEWMAC MAKES STRONG DEBUT IN NPI RANKINGS
•    The NEWMAC enters the week as the only conference with three teams ranked in the top 10 of initial Division III NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings, which were released on Monday.
•    Babson is currently 10th behind MIT (5th) and Smith (7th), while Emerson is ranked 21st, making the NEWMAC one of just two conferences along with the UAA to have four teams in the top 25. 
•    The Beavers own victories over both No. 1 Carnegie Mellon and No. 12 William Smith and have suffered their only two losses to Smith and No. 9 Ithaca, while Emerson owns a win over No. 15 NYU. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Fouche has recorded 10 or more kills in four consecutive matches and at least one block in seven straight contests. 
•    Holm has at least one block in each of her last eight matches and has recorded multiple blocks seven times during this stretch. 
•    Frosk has finished with 11 or more digs in five straight outings. 
•    Sophomore Ailsa Munro enters Tuesday's match riding a streak of seven straight matches with at least one block.

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    Burke is averaging 2.90 kills per set while hitting .247 over the last three matches. 
•    Ackerman has dished out 30 or more assists in four consecutive matches and 10 of the Beavers' first 13 contests this fall. 
•    In six matches going back to September 18, Gonzalez is averaging 3.16 digs per set. 
•    As a team, the Green and White has finished with a hitting percentage of .200 or better in 10 of its 11 wins this season. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 11-0 this fall and 32-4 going back to the start of last season when winning the first set.
•    Babson is 8-0 on the year and 54-1 over the last four seasons when it holds its opponents to a hitting percentage of .150 or lower. 
•    The Green and White is averaging 3.23 service aces per set in its 11 wins but just 1.00 per set in its two losses. 
•    The Beavers are 8-0 this season and have won their last nine matches when finishing with more blocks than their opponents.
