No. 25/18 Women's Volleyball Hosts Salve Regina on Tuesday Night

No. 25 Women's Volleyball vs. Salve Regina
Tuesday, October 27 | 7 p.m.
Staake Gymnasium | Babson Park, Mass.

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 7-3 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 2003.
•    The Beavers have won six consecutive matches versus the Seahawks although the teams have met just four times since 2013.
•    The Green and White won its only previous match against Salve Regina inside Staake Gymnasium in four sets back in 2024.

LAST MEETING
•    Isabella Allen '26 recorded nine kills, sophomore Liberty May added eight kills and senior Zoe Ackerman handed out 27 assists to help Babson sweep Salve Regina (25-20, 25-21, 25-22) on October 28, 2025, in Newport, R.I.
•    Senior Nora Whitehurst registered six kills and Sophia Shaw led all players with 15 digs for the Beavers, who used late rallies to overcome deficits in each of the first two sets.
•    Anouk Jansen recorded six kills, Lucy Swanson contributed five kills, seven digs and two aces, and Kalena Stavish dished out 10 assists for the Seahawks, who finished with a season-low 21 kills while hitting just .066 in the loss.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 25 Babson (18-5, 7-1 NEWMAC) has won six of its last seven matches and concluded the New England Challenge with a 3-0 victory over Williams late Saturday afternoon.
•    Senior Hailey Fouche led all players with 10 kills, sophomore Ailsa Munro contributed eight kills and five blocks, and Ackerman provided 30 assists, eight digs and four service aces for the Beavers, who limited the Ephs to their lowest hitting percentage of the year (.057).
•    Fouche ranks eighth in the conference in kills per set (3.00) and seventh with a .295 hitting percentage, Munro (2.44 k/s, 0.96 b/s) is second in the league with a .350 hitting percentage and fourth in blocks, and sophomore Devon Burke is averaging 2.44 kills per set.
•    Junior Angelina Holm (1.71 k/s, 0.92 b/s) is hitting .269 and ranks fifth in the NEWMAC in blocks per set, Ackerman (10.36 a/s) ranks fourth in Division III in assists per set and leads the league with 59 service aces, and junior Sabina Frosk ranks sixth in the conference in digs per set (4.19).

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
•    Salve Regina (8-14, 2-6 NEWMAC) has won two of its last three matches after defeating Mount Holyoke in four sets, 25-27, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19, on Sunday afternoon.
•    Jansen recorded 17 kills, Frankie Spadorcia hit .524 while registering 13 kills, Stavish handed out 46 assists and Madelyn Homer added 18 digs for the Seahawks, who hit .257 over the final three sets.
•    Jansen ranks third in the conference in kills per set (3.42), Lauren Shurling is averaging 2.47 kills and 1.31 digs per set, and Jenna DeFrancesco (1.96 k/s) is second on the team with 46 total blocks.
•    Spadorcia (1.83 k/s, 0.71 b/s) leads the squad in blocks and is hitting .286, Stavish (5.33 a/s) is averaging 10.61 assists per set over the last three matches, and Lily Dobbins is contributing 3.29 digs per set.

PUSH TO THE POSTSEASON
•    Thanks to its four-set win at then-No. 7 MIT last Tuesday coupled with then-No. 19 Smith's four-set loss at Emerson, the Beavers and Bears are tied for first place in the NEWMAC standings with three matches remaining.
•    Babson's only conference loss came against Smith back on September 26 so to earn the top seed in next month's conference tournament, the Green and White loses the head-to-head tiebreaker and must finish ahead of the Bears.
•    Entering the week, the NEWMAC is one of just two conferences in the country with five teams ranked among the top 45 in the NPI (No. 10 MIT, No. 18 Babson, No. 22 Smith, No. 24 Emerson, No. 41 Springfield).
•    Salve Regina is currently tied for ninth place, one game behind WPI (3-5) for the eighth and final spot in the league tournament.

ACKERMAN, MUNRO SWEEP NEWMAC WEEKLY AWARDS
•    After helping Babson to its second top-10 win of the season against MIT followed by capturing two of three matches at the New England Challenge, Ackerman was tabbed as the league's offensive player of the week while Munro was selected as the conference's defensive player of the week on Monday.
•    Ackerman averaged 11.06 assists, including a season-high 56 in Friday's five-set victory over Middlebury, and 0.88 aces per set while helping the Beavers hit .213 as a team.
•    Munro finished with 23 total blocks and averaged 1.44 blocks per set while also making her presence felt offensively, averaging 2.63 kills per set to go along with a .397 hitting percentage.

ACKERMAN SETS ACES RECORD, CAREER ASSIST MARK IN SIGHT
•    Ackerman matched her season high with six service aces in the loss to Tufts and added four more in Saturday's sweep of Williams to become the program's all-time leader with 242 aces.
•    She broke the previous record of 240 aces set by Michelle Malone '02 from 1998-2001.
•    Ackerman also enters the week ranked second in Babson history with 3,780 assists, which is just 132 behind Elizabeth Cameron '20, who became the program's first Hall of Fame inductee last month.

BEAVER BITES
•    Over the last 10 matches, Munro has registered double-digit kills eight times and is averaging 2.92 kills and 1.16 blocks per set while hitting .380 over this stretch. She also has at least four blocks in eight consecutive outings.
•    Frosk is averaging 4.84 digs per set over the last 12 matches and has finished with at least 18 digs eight times during this stretch.
•    Holm recorded a season-high 16 kills in Friday's win over Middlebury and has at least one block in 19 straight matches.
•    Ackerman has handed out 30 or more assists in 14 consecutive matches going back to September 22.
