Men's Soccer Welcomes Salve Regina to Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday

Men's Soccer vs. Salve Regina
Saturday, October 17 | 1 p.m.
Hartwell-Rogers Field | Babson Park, Mass.

SERIES HISTORY
•    Babson is 10-0-1 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 2000.
•    The Beavers are 3-0-1 versus the Seahawks since they joined the NEWMAC prior to the 2023 campaign, which includes a 2-0 victory in the 2024 conference tournament final.
•    The Green and White is a perfect 6-0 all-time in the series at Hartwell-Rogers Field, although it will face Salve Regina for just the fifth time since 2007 on Saturday.

LAST MEETING
•    Senior Alexander Yablonovskiy scored in the 89th minute to help Babson earn a 1-1 draw at Salve Regina on October 18, 2025, in Newport, R.I.
•    Senior McKenzy Pierre played a long pass down the left sideline for Yablonovskiy, who split a pair of defenders and ripped a shot inside the far post with just 67 seconds remaining for the Beavers, who got four saves from JB Montague.
•    Sawyer Beyer scored on a header against the run of play in the 69th minute for the Seahawks, who were outshot 16-12 but got nine saves from Adonis Santiago.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (6-2-4, 1-0-2 NEWMAC) is looking to snap a five-game winless stretch after settling for a 1-1 draw against Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon.
•    Senior Ben Cosentino scored his first goal of the season in the 74th minute and the Beavers outshot the Anchormen 19-4 but conceded an 85th-minute equalizer to finish deadlocked for the third time in their last four matches.
•    Yablonovskiy (2-3-7), sophomore Connor Hanrahan (3-0-6) and senior Will Lloyd (2-1-5) have combined to produce four game-winning goals, Pierre (2-1-5) is tied third on the team in scoring and graduate student Drew Stephans leads the squad with three assists.
•    First-year Braden Condit did not make a save in his first collegiate start on Tuesday, while graduate student Will Devall is 5-2-3 in 10 starts and boasts a 0.92 goals against average and a .775 save percentage to go along with four clean sheets.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
•    Salve Regina (3-5-4, 0-2-1 NEWMAC) has been victorious in just one of its last seven matches and is coming off a 3-3 draw with Emerson on Wednesday night.
•    Liam Barnett tied the game in the 43rd minute, Ty Ferris scored in the 51st minute and Angelo Cervera notched his first goal of the season in the 64th minute for the Seahawks, who got two saves from Santiago but conceded twice to the Lions in the span of 10 minutes to settle for a draw.
•    Ferris (8-1-17) leads the NEWMAC in scoring and has produced four goals over the last three games, Vlad Francouer (2-3-7) leads the team in assists and Lincoln Freeman (1-2-4) has one game-winning goal for a Salve squad that has gotten a goal from 13 different players this fall.
•    Santiago (2-4-2) has made eight starts and owns a 1.40 goals against average and a .767 save percentage to go along with two shutouts.

HONORING WILD WILL
•    Will McHugh, who is better known as Wild Will of Westwood, joined the Babson men's soccer program in 2014 through Team IMPACT and will be honored prior to the start of Saturday's match.
•    Will, who suffers from Lissencephaly, is a fixture on the sidelines during games with his parents Bill and Donna, and has been a part of the program's seven NCAA Tournament appearances over the last 10 years.

DOWN TO THE WIRE
•    For just the third time in program history, each of the Beavers' last eight wins, including all six this season, have come by a single goal dating back to last year's NEWMAC Tournament final.
•    Babson also had a streak of eight straight one-goal wins spread across the 1982 and 1983 campaigns as well as the 1985 and 1986 seasons.
•    The last time the Beavers recorded six consecutive wins by one goal in the same season came back in 1989.
•    In addition to its run of one-goal wins, the October 7 result against Amherst marked the first time Babson has lost by more than a single goal since October 2024.

ANDERSON REACHES ANOTHER MILESTONE
•    Babson's Jon Anderson '75 became just the ninth head coach in Division III history to coach 800 games last Saturday at MIT.
•    Anderson ranks second among active coaches and 11th in Division III history with 488 wins, and is also one of three coaches in NCAA history with more than 100 draws along with Dave Masur (Montclair State, St. John's), who is the all-time leader with 119, and George Kuntz (Cal Lutheran, UC Irvine, Cal St. Fullerton), who is second with 112.
•    The fifth-longest tenured active coach in NCAA men's soccer, Anderson is 488-211-102 since taking over at Babson in 1986.

TIGHTLY-PACKED TABLE
•    After the first four NEWMAC matchdays, just four points separate first-place MIT and seventh-place Wheaton as six of the 16 games have finished deadlocked.
•    Babson is currently tied for fourth place along with WPI on five points behind MIT (8 points), Coast Guard (7) and Springfield (6), while Clark (4) and Wheaton (4) sit in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
•    The Beavers and MIT, which played to a 1-1 draw last Saturday, are the lone remaining unbeatens, while Emerson (0-2-2) and Salve Regina (0-1-2) are the only squads without a win.

BEAVER BITES
•    Lloyd made his 62nd consecutive start going back to 2023 on Tuesday against Rhode Island College while playing in the 81st game of his career.
•    Yablonovskiy has produced 22 goals and 11 assists for 55 points in 72 career games and is tied for 20th in program history in goals and 22nd in points.
•    Cosentino became the ninth different player to score a goal and 12th player to record a point this fall for the Beavers with his goal on Tuesday versus the Anchormen.
•    Lloyd, junior Henry Bacon and sophomores Nicholas Adams and Adam Stetson are the only four Babson players to start all 12 matches this season.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Nine of Babson's 14 goals this season have been scored in the second half, which includes scoring six times in the 74th minute or later.

•    The Green and White is 5-0-4 on the season when holding its opponents to one goal or fewer.
•    Babson is 4-0-1 this season and 31-1-5 over the last three years when scoring the first goal of the match.
