Men's Basketball Travels to Coast Guard for First NEWMAC Road Test on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 65-29 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to the 1972-73 campaign.
•    The Beavers have won 25 of their last 28 games versus the Bears but were upset in last year's NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinals after sweeping the regular season matchups.
•    The Green and White has left with a victory in 13 of its last 14 visits to Roland Hall, which includes a 74-72 triumph last January. 

LAST MEETING 
•    Luke Farrell posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Trevor Parks and Elijah Parent both scored 15 points to help sixth-seeded Coast Guard defeat the third-seeded Beavers, 80-69, in a NEWMAC quarterfinal on February 25, 2025, in Babson Park. 
•    Farrell was 7-of-11 shooting and Colin Huang added 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Bears, who shot 50 percent from the floor, went 15-of-17 at the free throw line, and closed the game with a 10-0 run over the final 95 seconds. 
•    Nate Amado '25 recorded 20 points and nine rebounds, sophomore Ryan Frauenheim scored a career-high 17 points and Felix Kloman M'25 chipped in with 15 points and three assists for Babson, which led for just 52 seconds in the second half and shot 5-of-28 from three-point range. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (6-5, 0-2 NEWMAC) has dropped its last four contests after suffering a 77-69 loss to Clark on Wednesday night. 
•    First-year Thomas Ferdinando poured in a career-high 28 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists, and classmate Robby Fiore scored all nine of his points in the second half for the Beavers, who cut a 12-point deficit down to just three with under four minutes to play. 
•    Ferdinando (15.2 pts, 3.9 reb, 2.5 ast) is shooting 48.7 percent from beyond the arc and has made 10 three-pointers over the last two games, sophomore Timmy Mulvey (13.7 pts, 2.9 ast) leads the team in assists and has scored in double figures nine times in 11 starts, and senior Timmy O'Toole (9.5 pts, 8.3 reb) is shooting 57.5 percent and leads the NEWMAC in rebounds. 
•    The Green and White is averaging 75.0 points and ranks 43rd in Division III in three-pointers per game (9.9), but is allowing 75.4 points on the year. 

SCOUTING THE BEARS
•    Coast Guard (4-7, 0-3 NEWMAC) enters Saturday's contest having dropped five straight outings after falling 81-75 against Wheaton on Wednesday night. 
•    Farrell contributed 21 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, and Parent and Parks combined for eight three-pointers and each scored 15 points for the Bears, who knocked down 13 triples and led by as many as 13 midway through the first half. 
•    Farrell (15.3 pts, 8.2 reb, 1.6 blocks) is second in the league in rebounding, is shooting 53.7 percent from the floor and has attempted 32 free throws over the last three games, Parks is averaging 12.3 points and 4.2 rebounds and ranks sixth in Division III in three-pointers per game (3.55), and Parent (12.1 pts, 2.5 ast) leads the team in assists. 
•    Coast Guard is averaging 75.7 points and ranks 18th in three-pointers per game (10.9), but has given up 82.6 points over its first 11 outings. 

BEAR HUNTER
•    Frauenheim scored in double figures in all three games against Coast Guard last season averaging 13.0 points, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from three-point range. 
•    In addition to his 17-point performance in the conference tournament, Frauenheim finished with 12 points, two assists and two steals in a 74-72 win in New London on January 23, and provided 10 points, four dimes and two steals in the Beavers victory at home on February 22. 

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
•    O'Toole now ranks 10th in program history with 605 career rebounds after passing Jay Nelson '80 in Wednesday's loss to Clark. 
•    He is also tied for 12th in Babson history with 52 career blocked shots and ranks 17th with 105 steals, and is one of just four players in school annals with at least 600 rebounds, 100 steals and 50 blocks along with Bryant Richards '96, associate head coach Joey Flannery '17 and former teammate Nate Amado '25. 

AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
•    Ferdinando enters Saturday's contest ranked sixth in Division III in three-point percentage (48.7) and ranks second in the NEWMAC behind Parks and eighth in Division III in three-pointers per game (3.45). 
•    O'Toole ranks first in the conference and 19th in Division III in offensive rebounds per game (3.73) and has snared at least four in eight of the first 11 games this winter. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    In 19 of the last 20 games between Babson and Coast Guard, the winning team has put up at least 76 points. 
•    The Beavers are 6-2 this season when three or more players score in double figures. 
•    The Green and White is 5-1 this winter and 13-1 over the last two seasons when making 10 or more three-pointers. 
•    Babson is 6-1 on the year when scoring at least 70 points.
