NEWPORT, R.I.— Six players won matches in both singles and doubles, and the team lost just one game all day as the Babson College men's tennis team eased past Salve Regina University, 7-0, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference opener Saturday at the Salve Regina Tennis Courts.
With the win, Babson improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the NEWMAC while Salve Regina is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Beavers earned the doubles point with a sweep of the three sets. Senior
Alexander Merson (Palisades Park, N.J.) and first-year
Rishi Batlanki (Monroe Township, N.J.) won the first flight, 6-0; sophomores
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) and
Sabastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) were 6-1 winners at number two; and first-years
Maxim Zlobinsky (Greenvale, N.Y.) and
Felipe Ramirez (Spring, Texas) cruised at number three, 6-0.
The Green and White captured all six singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, featuring Wang at number one, Merson at number two, Batlanki at three, Mendoz at four, Zlobinsky at five, and Ramirez at six.
The Beavers will be in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday, competing at the Holy Cross Invitational, beginning at 9 a.m.
