No. 21/24 Baseball Stays Unbeaten at Home with 6-3 Win over Trinity

Santos Passes Steve Tahmoush '08 as the Beavers' All-Time Stolen Base Leader

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Graduate student Tanner Santos (Bethany, Conn.) became the program's all-time leader and stolen bases and junior Zander Teator (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and recorded his fourth save of the season to help No. 21 D3baseball.com/No. 24 ABCA Babson College defeat visiting Trinity College, 6-3, in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Govoni Field.

Babson, which has won five of its last seven games, improves to 12-5 overall with the win. Trinity has dropped its last three outings to slip to 6-11 overall.

First-year Gabe Cushner (Harrington Park, N.J.) singled and drove in a pair of runs, senior Walter Sadowsky (Morristown, N.J.) was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Santos walked twice and swiped the 56th bag of his career for the Beavers. First-year Chase Burrows (Cream Ridge, N.J.) allowed three runs over 7.0 innings and struck out two while allowing just two base runners over his final five frames to improve to 4-0 this spring with the win.

First-year Quinn Sotero (Branford, Conn.) struck out two and walked two while allowing one earned run over 3.0 innings in a no-decision for the Bantams. Classmate Pete Murphy (Brewster, Mass.) shouldered the loss after allowing two runs in the fifth inning and is now 0-1.

Santos led off the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second and reached third on an error before scoring on graduate student Brant Savage's (Charlton, Mass.) RBI ground out to give the Green and White a 1-0 lead. Trinity responded in the second getting back-to-back singles by junior Tyler Bernstein (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) and first-year Ryder Aubin (Dover, N.H.), which was followed by a two-run double by junior Andrew Park (Flushing, N.Y.) and a sacrifice fly by first-year Brett Stone (Woburn, Mass.) to go in front 3-1.

The Beavers cut their deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the frame on a two-out RBI single down the left field line by Cushner, and tied the game in the fourth when sophomore Ryan Liss (Hollywood, Fla.) raced home from third on a dropped pop-up. Babson left the bases loaded in the inning before taking the lead for good in the fifth despite the benefit of just one hit.

Savage was plunked to start the frame, senior Justin Guest (West Windsor, N.J.) walked and Liss reached on an error to lead the bases. Sadowsky brought home Savage with the go-ahead run on an RBI ground out and Teator followed with an RBI base hit up the middle to make it 5-3.

Teator knocked in his second run of the afternoon with a two-out RBI double to deep center extending the margin to 6-3 in the seventh and the Beavers' pitching staff did the rest. Burrows retired the final 10 batters he faced, senior Luke McClintock (South Hamilton, Mass.) retired the side in order in the eighth and Teator worked around a two-out single in the ninth for his fourth save.

Babson returns to action on Saturday when it visits Clark for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m., while Trinity begins a three-game series with Colby at home on Friday at 12 p.m.
