HARTFORD, Conn.—Junior Grace Denious (Wilton, Conn.) scored three goals and led all players with four points to lift No. 15 IWLCA Trinity College to a 13-7 win over No. 13 IWLCA/No. 18 USA Lacrosse Babson College in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon at Robin L. Sheppard Field.

Babson, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, is now 3-2 on the year. Trinity has now won two of its last three contests to improve to 4-3 overall.

Senior Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) finished with three goals, three draw controls and one caused turnover, while classmate Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.) scored twice to pace the Beavers. Senior Amelia Novitch (Dover, Mass.) registered two assists and classmate Kathleen Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) matched her career high with 15 saves to go along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the loss.

Junior Kaeley Zito (Charlestown, R.I.) and first-year Ivy Armentrout (Lyman, Maine) both scored three times and sophomore Kelsey Restivo (Sayville, N.Y.) and senior Brooke Kurtz (Alexandria, Va.) each contributed a goal and two assists to lead the Bantams. Junior June Trodden (Weston, Mass.) finished with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, while the duo of sophomore Olivia Aguirre (Cherry Hill Village, Colo.) and junior Ali Macdougall (Southbury, Conn.) combined for eight saves in the victory.

Blake and senior Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) converted free-position chances, Murphy made four saves in the opening frame and the Green and White took a 3-2 lead on Connolly's first goal off a feed from senior Solana Fahey (North Andover, Mass.) with 11:48 to go in the second quarter. Zito responded with back-to-back free-position tallies just 29 seconds apart to put Trinity in front 4-3 at the 8:06 mark, Denious put away another free-position opportunity less than two minutes later and Zito capped the four-goal run with 1:26 left in the stanza to give the hosts a 6-3 advantage going into halftime.

The Beavers cut their deficit to 6-4 on Connolly's second goal 58 seconds into the third quarter, but Restivo and Denious scored 92 seconds apart to put the Bantams up 8-4 with 9:23 left in the period. Graduate student Ellie Hilsabeck (Hingham, Mass.) collected a ground ball and scored at the 7:57 mark to get Babson within three before Trinity answered with a three-goal run to take its largest lead of the game at 11-5 on a free-position marker by Armentrout with 9:58 to play in the fourth.

Connolly completed her hat trick 33 seconds later but the Green and White was unable to get any closer as Macdougall denied a pair of free-position shots over the next four-plus minutes before sophomore Sarah Marvin (Ambler, Pa.) scored to make it 12-6 with 3:44 remaining.

The Beavers finished with a 17-5 edge in draw controls while the Bantams held a 34-24 edge in shots and a 19-11 margin in ground balls.
