Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Cruises Past Emerson for Seventh Consecutive Win, 3-0

BOSTON—Senior Isabella Allen (Williamsville, N.Y.) and junior Hailey Fouche (Montclair, N.J.) paced a balanced attack with a match-high nine kills as visiting Babson College rolled to a three-set sweep of Emerson College, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's volleyball action on Tuesday night inside Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gymnasium.

With its seventh consecutive victory, Babson improves to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Emerson has dropped two of its last three matches to slip to 10-8 overall and 3-2 in the NEWMAC.

Fouche also led all players with five blocks, junior Allison Molendyk (Danville, Calif.) finished with eight kills and three blocks, and sophomore Angelina Holm (Denver, Colo.) added six kills and three blocks for the Beavers, who hit .256 on the night. Junior Zoe Ackerman (Aurora, Colo.) produced 31 assists, four service aces and four digs, senior Sophia Shaw (Novato, Calif.) led all players with 13 digs and first-year Ailsa Munro (Sylmar, Calif.) chipped in with four blocks in the win.

Junior Rachel Dickerson (Frisco, Texas) provided seven kills and two aces, while sophomore Chloe Hokenson (McLean, Va.) contributed 13 assists, four kills, four blocks and four digs for the Lions, who were held to a season-low 23 kills while hitting just .063.

The Green and White dominated the opening set building a quick 10-2 lead while putting away 10 kills and taking advantage of eight attack errors by the hosts. Babson jumped in front 12-4 in game two thanks for three kills and an ace by Fouche, a pair of kills by Allen and two more service aces by first-year Misaki Harte (San Jose, Calif.). Emerson rallied to cut its deficit to just two on two occasions, the last coming at 15-13, only to see Fouche record three kills during a five-point run that stretched the margin back to 20-13.

The third set featured five ties and two lead changes before the Beavers gained separation with a 6-2 run. A kill by Allen and a block by Fouche made it 12-10, and Molendyk combined on a block with Munro before providing back-to-back kills for a 16-12 lead. The Lions got back within two but the Green and White followed with six of the next eight points including two more kills by Allen, another by Holm and Ackerman's final ace of the night for a 23-17 edge it would not relinquish.

Babson returns to action on Friday when it travels to Endicott at 6 p.m., while Emerson hosts Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
