Women's Volleyball Hosts Coast Guard on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 21-23 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 1981. 
•    The Beavers have won 15 straight matches and 16 of their last 17 contests versus the Bears going back to 2013. 
•    The Green and White has won 10 in a row against Coast Guard inside Staake Gymnasium going back to 2015, which includes taking the final two sets in a 3-2 triumph back in 2023. 

LAST MEETING
•    Lauren Gips '25 hit .531 while recording 17 kills and senior Isabella Allen added 14 kills to help Babson sweep Coast Guard, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21, on September 28, 2024, in New London, Conn. 
•    Lauren Griffin '25 added 10 kills, junior Zoe Ackerman handed out 45 assists to go along with 10 digs, and senior Sophia Shaw led all players with 25 digs for the Beavers, who hit .250 as a team in the victory. 
•    Amelia Matson registered 10 kills, Sophia Rosenburg finished with 30 assists, nine digs and five kills, and Kaela France chipped in with a team-high 18 digs for the Bears, who were unable to close out a 24-22 lead in the opening set. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (9-3, 3-0 NEWMAC) extended its winning streak to five matches with a four-set triumph (25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21) over Wellesley on Tuesday night. 
•    Junior Allison Molendyk recorded a season-high 15 kills, first-year Liberty May added nine kills and six aces, and Ackerman handed out 43 assists to go along with 10 digs for the Beavers, who hit .277 while winning the final two sets. 
•    Allen is averaging 2.71 kills per set, May (2.55 k/s) is hitting .276 and Molendyk is contributing 2.36 kills per set. 
•    Junior Angelina Holm (2.20 k/s, 0.94 b/s) ranks fourth in the conference in blocks, Ackerman is handing out 8.23 assists per set and ranks sixth in the league with 30 aces, and Shaw is averaging a team-high 3.48 digs per set. 

SCOUTING THE BEARS
•    Coast Guard (9-4, 1-2 NEWMAC) snapped a two-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of Clark on Tuesday night. 
•    Matson led a balanced attack with 10 kills, Corey Lemmer contributed nine kills and Ava Ahokovi handed out 24 assists to go along with six digs for the Bears, who finished with a .316 hitting percentage. 
•    Matson (2.97 k/s, 2.75 d/s) is hitting .225, Abby Schweitzer is averaging 2.63 kills per set and Sarah Somer is contributing 2.53 kills per set to go along with a .243 hitting percentage. 
•    Ahokovi is handing out 7.15 assists per set and Laila Baameur is averaging a conference-best 5.46 digs per set. 

NEWMAC KNOWLEDGE
•    Babson is off to a 3-0 start in league play for the third season in a row and the fifth time in the last seven years going back to 2017. 
•    The Green and White was picked to finish third in the preseason coaches' poll behind defending regular season champions MIT and reigning NEWMAC Tournament champion Smith, while Coast Guard was tabbed to finish fifth.
•    The Beavers have finished no worse than fourth in the conference standings in 11 straight years dating back to 2013, and last season's tie for fourth place snapped a streak of 10 consecutive top-three finishes.  

RISING IN THE RECORD BOOKS
•    Ackerman is currently fourth in program history with 2,220 assists and needs 128 to pass Erica Yuan '04 for third place on Babson's all-time list, and also is just one service ace shy of matching Caitlin O'Neill '10 and Elizabeth Sullivan '16 for 10th on the Beavers' career list. 
•    Allen totaled 10 kills in Tuesday's win and moved into eighth place on the all-time list with 769 kills. Her 803.5 points are also good for 14th place in school history. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Over the last two matches, May has totaled 31 kills and eight service aces and is averaging 3.88 kills per set on a .431 hitting percentage. 
•    After finishing with a season-high 19 digs in last Saturday's five-set victory at Smith, junior Sabina Frosk finished with 17 digs in the win over Wellesley and is averaging 4.00 digs per set over the two matches. 
•    Over her last five outings, Holm is averaging 2.61 kills and 1.00 blocks per set to go along with a .430 hitting percentage. 
•    Molendyk is hitting .310 and averaging 2.53 kills per set over Babson's last three matches, while Allen has now finished with at least eight kills in eight straight contests going back to September 12. 
•    Ackerman is averaging 9.45 assists per set during the Beavers' five-match winning streak. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Babson ranks 23rd in Division III in hitting percentage (.290) and has won 44 straight matches when hitting .200 or better since 2023. 
•    The Beavers are 8-2 this fall when winning the opening set. 
•    The Green and White is 31-3 inside Staake Gymnasium over the last three seasons. 
•    Babson is 5-1 on the year and 47-3 since 2023 when recording more service aces than its opponents.
