MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Babson College sophomore
Nick Yacoub (Sharon, Mass.) was tabbed the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday afternoon.
A second-year runner, Yacoub finished fourth overall and first among Division III harriers to lead Babson to the team victory at the Hopkinton XC Festival on Friday afternoon. He posted a time of 25:35.69 on the 8k course, which was 21 seconds faster than his next closest Division III competitor.
Yacoub has finished as Babson's top runner in all three races this season with a pair of top-10 showings. He was ninth out of 156 entries at the Suffolk Short Course Classic back on August 30, running the 5K course in 15:55, and took 16th out of 253 competitors at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 20 with a time of 24:57 in the 8K race.
Babson will compete in the Connecticut College Invitational this Saturday at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn.
