Men's Soccer Battles to 0-0 Draw at Saint Joseph's in Season Opener

STANDISH, Maine—Visiting Babson College got one save from senior goalkeeper Walker White (Coral Gables, Fla.) and opened the season with a 0-0 draw at Saint Joseph's College on Friday afternoon.

The Beavers outshot the Monks 31-3 and accounted for 12 of the 13 shots on target over 90 minutes but were unable to break through on the scoreboard. Senior goalkeeper Liam Foley () was superb for Saint Joseph's with a career-high 12 saves on the day.

Sophomore McKenzy Pierre (West Orange, N.J.) was denied twice by Foley in the span of 30 seconds just 20 minutes into the contest and graduate student Tyler Fidrych (Stonington, Conn.) saw his bid to open the scoring ring off the post in the 27th minute for the Green and White. Foley stepped off his line to snare sophomore Alexander Yablonovskiy's (Berkley Heights, N.J.) shot from the center of the box in the 62nd minute and graduate student Samuel Kalishman (Clarksville, Md.) forced a diving stop with just under two minutes to play in the match.

White made his lone save of the game in the second minute to record the 19th shutout of his career.

In addition to the disparity in shots, the Beavers also attempted seven of the eight corner kicks in the contest.

Both teams return to action on Sunday as Babson hosts No. 12 Montclair State at 1 p.m., while Saint Joseph's visits Wheaton at 2 p.m.
