BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior
Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) tossed a two-hit shutout and three different players drove in a run to help Babson College defeat No. 22 MIT, 4-0, in game two of Saturday's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball doubleheader at Alumni Field.
Babson, which is now 9-12 overall and 2-4 in NEWMAC play, dropped game one to the Engineers (10-4, 2-2 NEWMAC) 11-0 in five innings.

O'Reilly struck out eight and gave up just two hits to record her second shutout of the season and 17th of her career. Junior
Sara Moore (Kennett Square, Pa.) had an RBI double, first-year
Jackie Paglieri (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) was 1-for-3 with an RBI and senior
Molly Hennessy (Tallahassee, Fla.) drove in a run for the Beavers.
Junior Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) and sophomore Kara Hines (Cynthiana, Ky.) both singled for the Engineers. Junior Becca O'Connor (San Antonio, Texas) went the distance in the circle giving up three earned runs on five hits to drop to 3-2 on the year with the loss.
The Green and White jumped on top in the first loading the bases on back-to-back singles by first-year
Emily Walsh (Flemington, N.J.) and junior
Athena Hadjipanayis (Rye, N.Y.) and a walk to first-year
Charlotte Raymond (Wrentham, Mass.) before Hennessy made it 1-0 with a sacrifice fly. O'Reilly recorded consecutive strikeouts to strand a pair of MIT runners in the top of the second and Babson added to its lead when Moore doubled to right center to bring home Paglieri.
The Beavers tacked on two more insurance runs in the sixth despite the benefit of just one hit. Senior
Kate Karamouzis (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) led off with a base hit through the left side and graduate student
Cassidy Musco (Walpole, Mass.) reached on an error to put runners on the corners. Paglieri's squeeze bunt brough home Karamouzis and Moore reached on an error one batter later allowing Musco to race home for a 4-0 lead.
O'Reilly, who did not allow a runner past second base in the game, retired seven straight batters to end the game.

Hadjipanayis went 1-for-3 with a stolen bases, while Raymond, Musco and sophomore
Sophia Pak (New Rochelle, N.Y.) all singled for the Beavers. First-year
Katie Vlacich (Concord, N.H.) allowed five earned runs over 4.0 innings to drop to 4-5 on the year with the loss.
Hines doubled, homered, knocked in five runs and scored three times to pace MIT's 10-hit attack. Senior Mackenzie Relihan (Naperville, Ill.) and junior Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) also drove in two runs apiece in support of sophomore Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio), who struck out three and improved to 6-1 with a four-hit shutout.
Hines hit a two-run homer just inside the left field foul pole in the top of the third and the Engineers exploded for four more runs in the fourth after Babson left the bases loaded in the bottom of the third. Relihan came through with an RBI single to left, Hines followed with a two-run double down the left field line and late scored on a squeeze bunt by Cable to make it 6-0.
The visitors tacked on five more runs in the top of the fifth, taking advantage of five walks and an error in the frame.
Babson returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Framingham State beginning at 3 p.m., while MIT takes on Simmons on Wednesday starting at 3 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are 46-27 all-time against MIT and the teams have split their last eight games going back to 2022.
• O'Reilly is now third in program with 17 shutouts behind only Meghan Gaskell '06 (18) and Brooke Stock '20 M'21 (19).
• Walsh, who walked in game one, extended her on-base streak to 10 games with a single in game two.
• Babson is now 8-1 this season when allowing two runs or fewer.
