Genevieve Bushey (Lakeville, Conn.) both recorded five caused turnovers as visiting Babson College rallied to defeat the Coast Guard Academy, 13-10, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday at Cadet Memorial Field.
With its second consecutive win, Babson improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Coast Guard slips to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the NEWMAC.

Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) scored twice and added one assist, while classmate
Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) added two goals and led all players with 12 draw controls for the Beavers. Fellow juniors

Morgan McGahan (Ho Ho Kus, N.J.) made three fourth-quarter saves in her collegiate debut.
Junior Caitlyn Coates (Hanover, Pa.) led all players with five goals and one assist for six points, while sophomore Abby McAllister (Pleasantville, N.Y.) scored twice and dished out three assists to lead the Bears' offense. Senior Mia Becker (Hudson, Ohio) finished with game highs of six caused turnovers and four ground balls and junior Maici Mintchwarner (Cream Ridge, N.J.) turned away 12 shots in a losing effort.
Coates opened the game with three straight goals and senior Addy Bass (Redondo Beach, Calif.) followed a tally by McAllister with back-to-back scores to give Coast Guard a 6-1 lead with 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Connolly scored off the ensuing draw and markers by Novitch and Blake to start the second cut the Babson deficit to 6-4 with 11:40 to go before halftime.
The Bears stopped the run momentarily with a tally from junior Laine Weber (Granite Bay, Calif.), but the Beavers scored the final three goals of the stanza and took their first lead on at the 13:40 mark of the third quarter on a score by junior
Nora Lema (Duxbury, Mass.). Connolly made it 9-7 by finishing a pass from Novitch with 4:59 left in the period and Evans and Downer scored 19 seconds apart to push Babson's advantage to 11-8 with 1:37 to go in the third.
Coast Guard pulled within 11-9 on Coates' fifth goal of the afternoon 36 seconds into the fourth, but McGahan came up with three big saves over the next three minutes and Costello forced a turnover that set up Downer's second tally to push the margin back to 12-9 with 8:36 remaining. The hosts cut their deficit to two against with 4:25 left but the Green and White forced three straight turnovers and Novitch scored with 1:51 to go to put the game away.
The Beavers outshot the Bears 34-18 and scored four free-position goals in addition to finishing with a 17-10 edge in draw controls.
Both teams return to action next Saturday as Babson hosts Smith at 1 p.m., while Coast Guard takes on MIT at 12 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are now 10-0 all-time against Coast Guard.
• Babson has won 39 of its last 40 games when holding its opponents to 10 goals or fewer.
• Evans extended her scoring streak to 10 games and Blake has a goal in five straight outings going back to last year.
