NORTON, Mass.—Junior Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) scored eight of her career-high 19 points in the decisive third quarter and visiting Babson College went on to defeat Wheaton College, 63-55, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon inside Emerson Gymnasium.

With its fifth consecutive victory, Babson improves to 11-10 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Wheaton has dropped five consecutive games to slip to 9-12 overall and 1-6 in the NEWMAC.

Silk finished 6-of-10 from the floor to go along with seven rebounds and a season-high four assists for the Beavers. First-year Samantha Reale (North Attleboro, Mass.) added 10 points, six boards and four steals, while junior Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) tied the program's single-season three-point record and contributed nine points and three assists.

Senior Maddie Mueller (Carver, Mass.) scored 17 points, while first-year Aniyah Boston (Linden, N.J.) and sophomore Kennis Jasperson (Sacramento, Calif.) both added nine points for the Lyons.

Leading 27-22 at the half, the Green and White got a jumper from senior Rachel McMenemy (Northborough, Mass.), a layup by Reale and a three-point play from Silk to extend the margin to 12 less than two minutes into the third quarter. Silk found junior Emily Flynn (Hanover, Mass.) for a three-pointer after Wheaton had closed within eight and then knocked down four straight free throws to make it 43-28 with 3:48 left in the stanza.

Sophomore Abby Miller (Millis, Mass.) hit a triple at the 1:43 mark and Silk went 1-of-2 at the free throw lines to give the Beavers their largest lead of the afternoon at 49-32 with 32 seconds left in the third. The Lyons outscored Babson 23-14 in the fourth but were unable to cut their deficit to single digits until the final 33 seconds.

Reale and sophomore Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) both scored four points in the opening frame as the Beavers led by as many as six before settling for a 15-12 lead going to the second quarter. Flynn made it 20-14 with a three-pointer just under four minutes into the period and the Beavers used three straight points by Silk and a triple by Perreault to open a six-point edge with 1:03 left before halftime after the hosts had tied the game at 21.

The Green and White shot 36.4 percent from the floor, finished with a 40-38 edge on the glass and turned 18 Wheaton turnovers into 17 points. They also went 18-of-27 (66.7 percent) at the free throw line, which includes a 10-of-11 effort in the third quarter.

The Lyons shot just 32.7 percent from the floor and missed nine of their first 11 three-point attempts.
