The Green and White erased an early 7-0 deficit to take its first lead of the game thanks to back-to-back triples by Stoddard at the 13:22 mark. WPI went back in front 21-20 on a three-point play by Reidy with 8:49 to go in the opening half before the Beavers answered with a 16-7 run that included seven points by Kloman and five from Amado to take a 36-28 advantage into the break.
Callahan scored the first four points of the second half to cut the deficit in half before the Engineers went cold making just one field goal over the next 12-plus minutes as Babson created separation. O'Toole scored a pair of hoops inside around a bucket by Amado, Kloman gave the hosts their first double-digit lead with a three-pointer, and then followed a left-wing triple by Amado with a layup that capped a 14-2 stretch that gave the Beavers their largest lead of the game at 50-34 with 8:58 remaining.
Reidy made consecutive three-pointers to pull the Engineers back within 10 at the 6:39 mark and Molen scored seven straight points to bring the visitors within 56-49 with 3:37 to play. Stoddard fed O'Toole for a layup on the ensuing possession and Kloman knocked down a pair of free throws to help the Green and White regain an 11-point lead with under three minutes left. Babson then went 13-of-14 at the charity stripe over the final 61 seconds to put the game away.
The Beavers shot 37 percent from the floor but went 25-of-31 at the free throw line (80.6 percent) and finished with a 46-35 advantage on the glass. The Engineers, who missed 21 of their first 23 shots to start the second half, shot a season-low 34.4 percent in the loss.
