BABSON PARK, Mass.—After posting a pair of top-five finishes in four tournaments, the Babson College men's golf team is ranked 28th in the final Scoreboard by Clippd Division III rankings released back in November.
The Beavers, who rank first in Region I ahead of No. 39 Tufts and No. 40 Endicott more by than six points, own an adjusted team scoring average of 292.9 over 10 rounds. They placed at Middlebury's Duke Nelson Invitational to open the season on September 14-15 and came in fourth in the 54-hole West Pines Collegiate in suburban Atlanta in early October.
The Green and White also tied for seventh at the Williams Invitational on September 21-22 and closed the fall by matching its best score of the year, a 2-under 282 on the way to placing 16th in a field that featured many of the top teams in the country at the 54-hole Golfweek Fall Preview in mid-October.
As a team, Babson broke 300 in each of its final six rounds and owns a four-ball scoring average of 294.70.
In addition to the team success, sophomore
Evan Eichenlaub (Bethlehem, Pa.) is ranked second in Region I and 32nd in Division with an adjusted scoring average of 70.7. He tied for second at 4-over in the Williams Invitational and carded a 6-under 65 in the second round on the way earning a share of second place at 4-under at the West Pines Collegiate.
Eichenlaub also tied for fifth at the Williams Invitational and finished under par in two of three rounds at the Golfweek Fall Preview.
First-year
Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) is ranked fifth in Region I and 85th in Division III with a 72.7 adjusted stroke average after posting three top-20 finishes in four starts to begin his career. He tied for ninth at 2-over in the West Pines Collegiate and followed it up by shooting 73-70-69 to finish in a tie for 20th place at 1-under in the Golfweek Fall Preview.
The Beavers, who were ranked 24th in November's Bushnell/Golfweek Division III poll, will begin the spring portion of their schedule at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Hampden-Sydney in Pinehurst, N.C., on March 9-10.
