Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 11 Men's Soccer Rolls Past Coast Guard, 6-0

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Matias Gutierrez (Coral Gables, Fla.) finished with two goals and one assist to help No. 11 Babson College cruise to a 6-0 win over the visiting Coast Guard Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

With its fifth straight win, Babson ends the regular season at 12-1-6 overall and 7-0-1 in league play. Coast Guard has dropped two consecutive matches to fall to 11-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the NEWMAC. The Beavers will be the top seed in next week's conference tournament while the Bears are seeded third.

Graduate student Samuel Kalishman (Clarksville, Md.) and James Donaldson (Kirkland, Quebec) and sophomores Alexander Yablonovskiy (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and Will Lloyd (Lexington, Mass.) all scored once for the Beavers. Graduate student Lorenzo Mancini (Franklin, Mass.) led all players with two assists and classmate Kento Abe (Quincy, Mass.), senior Liam Rhatigan (Holderness, N.H.) and sophomores Luca Tusche (Montville, N.J.) and Ben Consentino (Farmington, Conn.) each added an assist in the win.

Senior Walker White (Coral Gables, Fla.) and first-year JB Montague (Lutz, Fla.) both made one save for the Green and White.

Babson took control of the game with three goals in less than seven minutes in the first half. Lloyd scored his first of the season in the 19th minute with a 25-yard rocket after Coast Guard was unable to clear a corner kick and Gutierrez followed with his first marker of the game and putting away his own rebound in the 24th minute to make it 2-0.

Donaldson notched his sixth goal of year less than two minutes later, tapping in Rhatigan's header off a service from Gutierrez to give the hosts a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

Gutierrez completed his brace in the 65th minute by burying a header off a cross from Consentino and Kalishman made it 5-0 in the 70th minute, running onto a thru ball from Yablonovskiy following a turnover and slipping a shot past Bears' junior goalkeeper John Putnam (Halfmoon, N.Y.) for his first tally of the season.

Yablonovskiy capped the scoring in the 78th minute with his fourth goal of the fall.

Putnam finished with two saves in 74 minutes for the Bears, who were outshot 15-4 in the game.

Babson will host either fourth-seeded MIT or fifth-seeded Springfield in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on Thursday at 1 p.m., while Coast Guard takes on sixth-seeded Emerson in a quarterfinal on Tuesday.
