No. 7 Field Hockey Hosts Springfield at MacDowell Field on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson owns a slim 20-18 lead against Springfield in the all-time series that dates back to 1996.
• The Beavers have won 15 in a row over the Pride, including the last eight encounters by at least three goals.
• The Green and White have won the last nine games at MacDowell Field since Springfield's last win in Babson Park in 2012.

LAST MEETING
Sinead Walsh M'24 and Brianne McGrath '23 M'24 combined for five goals to help top-seeded and second-ranked Babson cruise to a 9-0 win over fifth-seeded Springfield in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on November 2, 2023, at MacDowell Field.
• Seniors Jessica Evans and Berit Sharrow and junior Laney Reed all produced a goal and an assist for the Beavers. Graduate student Andrea Marguerite  scored one goal, Meara Hanyon '23 M'24 chipped in with an assist and senior goalie Bayla Furmanek made one save for her 11th shutout of the season. 
• Senior Remy Niland made a season-high 18 saves for the Pride, which finished their season at 10-10.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 7 Babson (11-3, 5-0 NEWMAC) brings a six-game winning streak into Saturday's contest after a 9-0 blowout over Saint Joseph's of Maine on Monday at MacDowell Field.
• First-years Charlotte Roe and Lilly Goettsche each scored their first collegiate goal and nine different players found the back of the cage in the win. Junior Caroline DiGiovanni, senior Camille Marsh, Marguerite and Roe all finished with a goal and an assist, and grad students Katie Guden and Sophie Croci, Evans, and first-year Penny Baroni also scored once in the victory.
• DiGiovanni (10-4-24) has matched her career high with 10 goals in a season while Evans (8-1-17) has scored a goal in seven of her last eight games. Guden (6-2-14) has at least one point in five of her last six outings, Marguerite (5-4-14) has two goals and two assists in her last four games, and Marsh (5-3-13) has three goals and two assists in her last five contests. Senior Ellie Powers (0-5-5) leads the team in assists.
• Furmanek (0.71 GAA, 35 saves) leads the league in shutouts (8) and ranks 10th in Division III in goals against average.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
• Springfield (5-9, 1-4 NEWMAC) is coming off a 3-0 non-conference victory over Dean on Thursday evening in Springfield.
• First-year Kate O'Connor tallied a goal and an assist in the victory, junior Nicolette Morlock and sophomore Kristyn Vasselin scored once each and graduate student Anna Beck chipped in with an assist. Junior Kaitlyn Parent was not forced to make any saves to record her second shutout of the season.
• Sophomore Hailey Gaydos (5-3-13) had a goal and two assists and junior Audrey Hayes scored twice in last Saturday's win over Mount Holyoke. Beck (3-1-7) registered a hat trick in a win over Eastern Connecticut last month and Morlock (2-3-7) has two goals in her last four games.
• Parent (2-7, 3.09 GAA, 47 svs.) and senior Neilee Hess (3-2, 1.72 GAA, 34 svs.) have split time in the Pride goal and have two shutouts apiece.

THE STREAKS CONTINUE
• Babson has won 64 consecutive NEWMAC regular season games over the last nine season since a 1-0 loss at Mount Holyoke on October 17, 2015.
• The Beavers have captured 36 straight contests against NEWMAC opponents, including the conference tournament, since a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 NEWMAC title game.

BEAVER BITES
• Babson is 4-1 at home this season, 18-1 at MacDowell Field since the beginning of last season and 41-5 over the past four seasons.
• The Beavers have outscored their opponents 52-10, with eight players with at least three goals and 14 players with at least one goal.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
• Furmanek recorded her 52nd career victory on Monday, which is tops among active Division III netminders and ranks second among active goalies in all NCAA Divisions.
• The senior goaltender is also sixth among active goalies in all divisions with a 0.84 career goals against average.
• With 61 consecutive starts, Furmanek has a career mark of 52-9 and needs just two wins to match her predecessor, Cassidy Riley '22, for the program record for career victories.

HISTORICAL SUCCESS
• The Babson seniors have achieved remarkable success since 2021, registering an overall record of 73-11 (.869).
• This year's team surpassed the program's record for victories in a four-year span, one more than the seniors of 2019, who went 72-17 in their four years.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 31-2 since the start of last year and 66-2 over the past four seasons when scoring the first goal of the game.
• The Green and White have won its last 61 games over the past four campaigns when leading at halftime.
• Babson is 96-3 since 2018 when holding the opponents to fewer than two goals.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will play their third straight home game on Tuesday, hosting cross-town rival Wellesley at 6 p.m. at MacDowell Field.
